Solid input from the boys today to secure 3 points and first win of the season. 5-4.

We continue to seek committed and enthusiastic players keen on adding to a decent core doing battle in the Gadyfl Div 2 playing Sundays.

We train Monday and Wednesday night in North West Glasgow.

So much going on with the wider club but great enthusiasm for Academy year group successes.

Our 2010s battled through a tense P&D League Cup quarter-final to book their place in the semi-finals!

Full-time: 2-2
A tough test against a dogged St Cadocs Sporting side
Penalties: 6-5 win after 7 rounds of high drama!

Huge credit to every player for their grit and composure under pressure! Bring on the semis!

Regional Cup QF

St Cadocs Sporting 4 v Knightswood Red Star 5
Swung from 1-0 to 1-3 to 4-3 to the final minute winner to make it 4-5.
A bit of a Cup tie classic really. We travelled to Eastwood High believing that if the boys worked hard then St Cadocs Sporting would need a dose of luck to get through the tie. To St Cadocs credit they brought plenty of quality and fought for everything and took goals well. at 1-3 in the second half we thought the tie might be over but fair play to them they just kept coming. We look forward to seeing St Cadocs Sporting again in the League Cup QF in May.

Really pleased for the boys as we've had some heart break in Cups since the start of 11v11s and never made it past a QF and those gremlins seemed to be in the minds when we went under the cosh with minutes to go to get an equaliser.

Goals from Alex, Laurie, Holiness, Brodie and Holiness again. Contributions from all the squad but special mention to Brodie, refs MOTM and coach's MOTM. An imperious performance at the base of midfield without which we wouldn't have got out the tie.

We now return to league action with 8 games left to find our feet in Paisley & Johnstone District YFL and plenty of Cup action between now and season end.

We contine to look for enthusiastic players ready to play at Div 1 level.

Many thanks to Stenhousemuir FC 2010's for coming through for a great game yesterday and ensuring the boys kept ticking over for the free week in the league. Vital for us with St Cadocs up next in the West Region Quarter Final.

With only 11 core warriors on a warm morning and a few under the weather with the remains of illness and becoming accustomed the discipline of fasting for Ramadan the boys could have been forgiven for a sub par performance but they played some lovely stuff and came out on top by the odd goal in 11!!

Well done lads. On to next week.

We continue to look for players equipped to compete at Div 1 level. We also have an intermediate side being rebuilt who would take the right players. Enthusiasm and commitment key.

An excellent friendly test match for us last night v Kelvindale FC who made the short trip to John Paul Academy. Real cup tie feel to the game and our guys got scrutinised by excellent intensity levels ultimately coming up short by the odd goal in 5.

We continue to look for a few players keen to compete at Div 1 level.

Great test for the lads Saturday morning vs a strong Drumchapel United Reds 2010 looking to get back to winning ways at the top of the Paisley & Johnstone District YFL Div 1 pile. Lads couldnt really find a foothold in the first 20 or so as Drum dominated the early exchanges. Miscommunication for 2 goals and an unchallenged header at a corner saw us in at HT 0-3 down.
Second half we started to come to terms with them a bit and did enough to suggest that on our good days our wee group can test the best of grassroots.

Special mention to our back 4 who between them dont have mountains of experience at this level but stuck to task really well led by coach's MOTM Michael. Ref gave GK Jared MOTM. He continues to pull off outstanding saves to keep us in games.

We continue to seek players keen to contribute to a long standing group fighting to justify life in Division 1 and with two Cup quarter finals and a further Divisional Cup to play for.

Two good games done this weekend. On the wrong end of a 3 goal game v Bonnyton Saturday. Boys were excellent in a keen contest and ultimately undone by worldy. Sunday was a good run out in a friendly v Renton. Boys played some nice footy and an Alex hat trick in a 5-1 win. Thanks to the trialists coming along. Good luck to Renton in their remaining ERSDA campaign. We continue to look for a few committed players ready to compete at Div 1 level.

Some good games last weekend. Our Paisley & Johnstone District YFL Div 1 side came through a tough League Cup game against table topping Bonnyton. We look forward to the quarter finals in due course. Our rebuild squad took a sunday friendly against Holytown Colts 2010 who were excellent and provided a stiff test for the lads. Thanks for coming through.

This weekend front runners Bonnyton are back up the M77 as we host them at John Paul Academy again. The rebuild squad take on Renton Craigandro 2010 Reds on sunday at Greenfield Football Parks . They are going well in the East Ren league so another decent test in store Fingers crossed for a wee thaw.
