Forwarding this from Victoria Dewar who is the stable manager up at Blair Castle Horse Trials - some helpful info for all competitors.

Contact details: [email protected]
=============
Build up to Blair 2021 - only 11 sleeps till we are up to set up the stables camp and start getting everything ready for all our arrivals. We thought we should put together a little list of info so you guys can be prepared for the week. Apologies for the long post but sharing is caring and please do ask any questions you like as we will have forgotten something

On Arrival
We look forward to welcoming you at the FEI Event Stables from 12pm on Tuesday 24th August.
All horses must be accompanied by a valid passport and will undergo a vet check on arrival prior to entering the stable. The passport is retained by the vet for the duration of your competition.
On arrival you will get an information pack and will be directed to your allocated stable. If you require something specific from your stable location, please put it on your stable booking form or email [email protected] before Friday 20th August. Two bales of Bliss Bedding are included and will be at or in your stable. More Bliss Bedding and Bedmax are available to purchase at the Stable Managers office.
If you plan to arrive after 10pm please contact the Stable Manager ASAP as we will need to arrange an isolation stable for you to use on arrival.
The stables open from 6am to 10pm (11pm on Saturday). Access after 10 will only be permitted with permission from the FEI Steward or the Vet. Full security will be in place from Wednesday afternoon and passes will be required to enter the stable yard. You will receive your passes in your competitor pack.
Your competitor pack will include cross country numbers and a bridle number. Please ensure your horse wears a bridle number at all times when outwith its stable. This includes non-competing horses so please ask if you need an extra number.
We are unable to allow stables to be used as tack rooms.
Please do not use stall guards overnight on stables and ensure you have completed your emergency contact sheet and returned it to the Stable Managers office – this ensures we can contact you if there is an issue or emergency. This form is in your competitor pack.
No motorised scooters are to be used in the stable areas.
There is strictly NO SMOKING anywhere in the stable yard.

Parking
Parking is on a first come first served basis with those who have not pre-booked hook-up parking in a separate area from those who have booked and paid for hook-up.
You will be parked in a hook-up area if you have booked and paid for hook-up in advance of arriving.
Please only plug in one vehicle per hook-up – plugging in multiple vehicles causes the generators to trip resulting in all the lorries on that line going without power.
No fire pits (or Jacuzzis) allowed in the lorry park.
Riding and exercising
Please ride ONLY in the official riding areas and routes. You can find a map of these areas at the Stable Managers office.
All official exercise areas will be open 7am to 7pm
Please do not ride, graze or lunge in the lorry park – please use the designated exercise areas for these activities.
Daily jump practice times will be posted at the Stable Managers office when authorised (you can only jump when an FEI steward is there). These will also be shared at the Riders Briefing on Wednesday evening. Any CCI1*-Intro riders arriving after the briefing will be able to collect the information from the stables managers.

Trot up - No 1*
Trot up takes place in the main arena for the CCI2*-L, CCI3*-L and CCI4*-L on Wednesday afternoon. The CCI1*-Intro will not be required to trot up.
Stable Managers team will call competitor numbers in advance of the trot-up using the tannoy and will direct you to the collecting ring in advance of your trot-up. Horses are sent to the collecting area in groups of 10. Competitors with multiple horses can run them consecutively.
The first trot up will run in numerical order and each horse takes roughly 20 seconds.
Dressage times will be issued after the Trot up is completed. Copies will be available at the Stable Managers office and posted on the noticeboard situated there.
Dressage sheets will be available to collect from the Stable Managers office from Saturday.

General
If you require a Vet, Farrier or FEI Steward, please contact the Stable Managers team.
All Dogs MUST be on leads at all times and we request you pick up after your dog. Fines will ensue!!!
Hay, haylage and bedding are available for sale and can be purchased from the Stable Managers office.
Toilets and showers are available outside the stable yard.
There is a water standpipe in the lorry park and toilets can be emptied at the designated area, which will be signposted, next to the toilet block, outside the stable yard.
Ice is available in limited quantities on Saturday and Sunday from the Stable Managers office and there will be cooled water available at the Cross Country finish.
The shopping village will open at 8am Thursday where you can purchase food and supplies for both horse and rider. Catering will be available from 4pm on Wednesday.
Your passport will be available from the Stable Managers office after you have completed your event – please collect it before you leave.
Valuable information will be displayed on the noticeboard at the Stable Managers office.
We look forward to another successful and exciting event – if there is anything you need to know from where to get your lorry fixed, to a lift to the airport, please contact the Stable Managers and we will be happy to help.
From a very excited dwarf troop!!!!

Anyone free to help out at the arena event at Houston on the 22nd? All proceeds go to maintaining and building new fences at this fab cross country course and we all love going there to train (like Linda McMillan's promising pupil in pic πŸ˜‚) so if you're having a week off between Hopetoun and Blair and can help with stewarding or jump judging you will be very very welcome!

Massive plea for helpers for the Kilmacolm and Kilallan riding club arena event on the 22nd of this month. The entry fees for these events are used purely for the upkeep of the amazing cross country facilities at Houston House, but as usual we absolutely cannot run without on the ground volunteers. So if you have ever used Houston cross country, want to in the future, or purely want to lend a hand at a riding club event, please contact Jennifer Rentoul on 07764 352332 and volunteer. Any help would be gratefully accepted. Unfortunately if we don’t get any helpers soon we will have to cancel this competition and disappoint a lot of people.

Fab to see another new cross country training course opening up!
