Mickel Scottish Country Dance Club

Can’t believe it’s nearly the end of July - but don’t worry we still have August sessions at Mickel SCD club.

Few photos from Monday night. Everyone did really well and the Strathspey Pousettes looked great in Neidpath Castle and I could not resist a few Roy Clowes dances such as Shiftin’ Bobbins and fun and giggles with Lobster in the pot at the end! Together in Kippo is coming on nicely and Dusky Dolphins got us on our toes as the first dance 🤣 Next week I’ve not put it on first 😉

I went overboard with ‘its behind you dances’ 🤣having Glasgow City Strathspey and Best Set in the Hall. Still had to have a La Baratte formation in there with the favourite: Dragonfly. Finishing off with the popular dance The Longest Day - can you spot it? 👀🕵️🕵️‍♂️

Well we’ve been so busy at Mickel SCD club that we’ve not had time to post any photos from our lovely summer dancing! 💃 🕺

We love a wee La Baratte formation so you’ll notice it from the dance La Crème de La Crème. A few new dances like The Slingshot and Mair than Fifty, but a few regular and popular ones like Shiftin’ Bobbins and Scott Meikle.

Great news ❤️

Well what a hot sweltering night 🥵🥵🥵it was last night at Mickel SCD club.

Yet as a great club we are, we covered 12 dances and 2 of them we danced twice. 🕺💃

With some new dances to cover such as Icebreaker and some favourites such as Ian Powries, we also had the delight of dancing Catherine’s wheels written for one of our members wedding 27 years ago ❤️ and another dance written by our members called Primroses in the Glen. I could not forget La Crème de La Crème as it would not be Mickel SCD club without a La baratte formation! And finally a dance dedicated to my teacher who inspired me to dance at the young age of 6 - Roy Clowes with Shiftin Bobbins 🥰

And apologies - we have had so much fun that I did not get chance to post last week 😆 so double photos this week!

So excited as we are back on Monday! 😁

A few of you have asked if the hall is open after the Scotland 🏴󠁧󠁢󠁳󠁣󠁴󠁿 football ⚽️ this morning and you will be glad to know it is. We are back in Clarkston Hall 😁
