Season over. Hard work begins at GBA 🏸🔥
Our players are straight back into conditioning. Running, jumping, and pushing their movement quality for the season ahead. No shortcuts, just effort, consistency, and a squad committed to getting better every week.

Explosive power and smart movement from our juniors today 🏸🔥
Players raced against each other using a broad‑jump relay: jump as far as you can, place the cone where you land, sprint back, grab another cone, and jump again from your marker. This challenge builds leg power, coordination, and competitive focus and the players love pushing themselves to see who can win.

🥇🏸GBA Weekly round up🏸🥇

Saturday was a momentous day for GBA. We held our first GBA Club Championships at Sir Craig Readie Badminton Centre.

This was a great opportunity for some of our younger players to experience competitive matches in a tournament format.

The day was very successful with some exciting matches and it was also great to see the sportsmanship displayed by the players.

The medalists were:

U13
🥇Ethan Zhou
🥈Oliver Zhou
🥉Yenui Senadeera

U15
🥇Thomas Yuen
🥈Jacob Wong
🥉Elijah Douglas

U17
🥇Divyam Goyal
🥈Kaliq Rafiddi
🥉Chris Agnew

U19
🥇Tharun Kalva
🥈Isaac Sanders
🥉Ross Loudon

Many thanks to all the volunteers who helped throughout the day to ensure the tournament ran smoothly and the Badminton Scotland court officials who umpired some of the older age group matches.

Also thanks to the parents for supporting the GBA tournament.

We hope the tournament will have inspired the players to keep practicing hard and we look forward to the GBA Club Championships becoming an annual event.

We're back with our meet the coach series! This time we caught up with Josh Taylor.

What's one value you think defines GBA players?

Teamwork and community
While players compete in individual events, we know that to progress and develop as players we rely on those around us to push us to achieve our best level and vice versa, this in-club competitiveness and camaraderie is something we really try to foster at GBA so the players grow together and reach their goals (and make friends along the way which is so important)

What's the best advice a coach ever gave you?

Do the simple things well, while I believe there is a time and place for showing off your skills (and the occasional trickshot) if you have a good handle on the basics, that solid foundation is going to get you further in this sport than anything else.

What's your hidden talent outside badminton?
I'm able to balance a racket (among other things) on my nose like a performing seal

Great teamwork and energy in our Sunday session at GBA 🏸💙

Our Miniton players worked together on catching and throwing challenges. Brilliant for building coordination, timing, and confidence while learning to move as a team.

Meanwhile, our intermediate group took on a fast shuttle‑grab race, helping them sharpen reactions, accelerate quickly, and stay switched on under pressure.

Simple games, big benefits and plenty of smiles along the way.

Sharp footwork and fast reactions at GBA tonight 🏸🔥
Players worked on a chase‑and‑escape drill using side‑steps along the line before one player suddenly turns and sprints, with the other trying to tag them. This game builds explosive acceleration, change‑of‑direction speed, and the ability to read an opponent’s movement.

Speed and change of direction at GBA 🏸🔥

Our players pushed their speed and reactions with a chase and change of direction sprint game. Accelerating hard, cutting sharply, and reading each other’s movement on the fly. A fun competitive warm‑up that builds real match‑ready footwork and gets everyone switched on from the first rally.

11/05/2026

A brilliant Sunday session across all groups at GBA 🏸🔥
Our performance players worked on a conditioned game where the front court was out. A great way to sharpen their decision‑making, improve shot selection, and force smarter use of depth and angles.

Meanwhile, our intermediate group focused on balance and body control by picking up and placing shuttles while standing on one leg. This simple challenge builds stability, coordination, and stronger movement foundations for future technical skills.
Different drills, same goal, helping every player grow with purpose.
