GBA on the European stage
A proud week for GBA as Jaagruti and Lewis are currently representing Scotland at the U19 European Championships.
Representing your country at a major European championship is a fantastic achievement and another important step in their development as young players.
For us, it’s also great for our younger GBA players to see where commitment, hard work and continued development can take you.
We’re proud of Jaagruti and Lewis, but we’re also proud to support the whole Scotland team competing this week.
Enjoy the experience, compete hard and make the most of every opportunity.
Best of luck to Jaagruti, Lewis and everyone representing Scotland!

🏸 GBA Player Spotlight
A huge well done to two of our players, Lewis Smith and Nathan Luo, who have both had some brilliant experiences competing abroad recently! 👏
🏆 Lewis Smith – U19 Irish Open Doubles Champion 🇮🇪
A massive congratulations to Lewis and his doubles partner Alfie Martin on winning the U19 Irish Open Men’s Doubles title!
After reaching the quarter-finals of the All England Junior Championships just a month earlier, it was great to see the boys come back, put in another strong performance and this time go all the way and win the title.
We’re really proud of Lewis and the work he continues to put into his badminton. GBA has supported Lewis through his development, including helping him spend a month training in Bangkok last summer, and it’s brilliant to see that hard work paying off.
Lewis is also now giving something back to the club, volunteering with some of our younger players and starting his own journey on the GBA coaching pathway.
🇨🇳 Nathan Luo – Mingjie Junior Cup Quarter-Finalist
A huge well done to Nathan as well, who recently travelled to China to compete at the Mingjie Junior Cup and had a fantastic tournament, reaching the quarter-finals! 👏
Travelling all the way to China and competing against players from different countries is an amazing experience for a young player. Nathan has been working really hard on his game and it’s great to see him getting opportunities like this and performing so well.
We’re really proud of what he achieved and hopefully there are plenty more experiences like this to come!
Swipe through the post to hear from Lewis and Nathan about their tournaments, what they learned and some advice they have for our younger GBA players. 🏸
And with the new GBA season just about to start, we’re looking forward to welcoming everyone back — as well as plenty of new faces!
If you or your child would like to get involved with GBA this season, get in touch with us and we’ll help you find the right session. 💙💛
Well done again Lewis, and Nathan and shoutout to Alfie Martin 👏🏸
🏸 Where does your badminton journey begin?
At GBA, every player has a pathway.
Whether someone is picking up a racket for the first time, growing as a confident club player, or pushing towards performance badminton, our structured programme supports development at every stage.
And yes, even fun challenges like our noughts-and-crosses race play a part. These activities develop quick decision-making, movement, teamwork and confidence, all of which contribute to long-term player development.
If you’re unsure which session is the right fit, we’re always happy to help you find the best group.
📩 Registrations for the new season are now open. Places are allocated on a first come, first served basis, so secure your place today and start your journey with GBA.
