What a fantastic day at our World Cup Celebration Event at Toryglen Football Centre as excitement continues to build ahead of Scotland National Team participation in the FIFA World Cup!

Over 300 children came together to enjoy a day of football, fun and inspiration, showcasing the enthusiasm and passion for the game across our schools and communities.

A special thank you to the Lord Provost of Glasgow and the Executive Director of Education for joining us and helping to make the event such a memorable occasion.

We would also like to recognise the outstanding contribution of our Sport Leaders and PEPASS Modern Apprentices, whose support, energy and commitment were instrumental in the success of the day.

Together, we are inspiring the next generation of players and supporters as Scotland prepares for the world's biggest football stage.

There was lots of talent on show throughout the day, with some fantastic performances from all teams involved.

A huge thank you to Councillor Annette Christie for officially opening the event and presenting the trophies to our winners.

We’d also like to thank all the teachers, coaches and Coach Core Modern Apprentices whose hard work and support helped make the event happen.

It was a great way to launch our 2026 Summer of Sport programme, and we look forward to seeing even more young people getting involved over the coming months!

⚽🏆 The Girls Summer Finals take place today at Toryglen Football Centre, bringing together secondary schools from across the city for a fantastic day of football and competition.

We're delighted to welcome Councillor Annette Christie to officially open the event as we celebrate the launch of Summer of Sport 2026.

With 140 pupils from S1–S4 taking part, today is all about participation, teamwork, confidence and enjoying sport in a positive and inclusive environment.

🌟 Unsung Hero – David Denholm 🌟

We’re proud to celebrate our first Unsung Hero of 2026, David Denholm! 👏

David is a valued volunteer at our Glasgow Sport Walking Football programme and you’ll find him there every Wednesday, offering his time, energy and encouragement to support our participants. ⚽💙

As a previous walking football player, David now gives back to the game he loves by helping others stay active and feel part of the team. His experience and passion shine through, making sure everyone enjoys the game like he does.

🏅 ACTIVE GLASGOW HOLIDAY FUND 2026 🏅

This summer is set to be unforgettable with the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games returning to the city — and your club could be part of the celebration!

Funded through The Scottish Government and Sportscotland Summer of Sport 2026, the Active Glasgow Holiday Fund is now open to support FREE or low-cost sport and physical activity opportunities for children and young people across Glasgow during the summer holidays.

💰 Funding available: £500 – £2,000
📅 Delivery period: 29th June – 11th August 2026
📍 Activities must take place within Glasgow City Council boundaries
⏰ Application deadline: Monday 15th June 2026 at 10am

Who can apply?
✅ Sports clubs
✅ Community organisations
✅ Community sport hubs

Projects should focus on engaging children and young people aged 3–26, especially those facing barriers to participation.

Funding can support:
✔️ Coaching and facility hire
✔️ Equipment
✔️ Transport and refreshments
✔️ Volunteer training and expenses
✔️ Marketing and promotion

Our Parkinson’s teams were delighted to be in Edinburgh today taking part in a fantastic 4-team friendly tournament hosted by Hibernian Charity Foundation.

Held at World of Football, the event was a true celebration of walking football and proof that football really is for all. ⚽💙

Alongside our own Glasgow Life and Celtic Foundation team, it was great to share the morning with teams from KA Leisure and the hosts Hibernian CF. The day was full of exercise, camaraderie and plenty of smiles, all rounded off perfectly with refreshments and pizza! 🍕

A huge well done to Erin and her team for organising such a great trip and experience for everyone involved.
