Christmas Dinner 2019πŸŽπŸŽ…

Photos from Glasgow University Women's Vet Rugby's post 14/11/2019

The Glasgow Vet squad came into Edinburgh for Dick Day with a full dedicated and energetic squad, a full bench of strong impact players, and a hugely first year group of keen gals ready to take the pitch. Captains, Casie and Eva, had a strong group of girls to work with and the starting line-up was a strong one. The Dick Vets opened up the match with two tries early on, leaving Glasgow on the back foot for most of the first half.
Needing to improve line-speed and communication, the team came re-energized in the second half to really show their stuff. Full back, Martine, was able to finally break over the try line for the Glasgow Vets. A load of fresh new legs gave the team new energy and work through the hands improved in attack, leading to another try scored by flanker, Erin, her first for the squad! A successful conversion was scored by Martine. Glasgow dominated the second half both in attack and defence, with impressive line-speed in defence, improved tackles and an eagerness to get into and win every ruck. The defensive pressure kept the Dick vets at bay, unable to get a try in during the last 40 minutes. The back line made some impressive plays at the helm of scrumhalf and Captain, Eva, working well with 10, Danielle, and speedy winger Zoe. Although the score ended at 34-17 to the Dick Vets, the true strength and passion of the Glasgow side really shone through in the second half, and it could not have been a more exciting game of rugby! There is a thriving squad on the horizon, with impressive numbers at training and on Dick Day itself, we cannot wait to bring more to this squad in the coming years!
Man of the match was awarded to fullback, Martine. First time try-scorer Erin also got a well-deserved pint at match teas, and all our amazing freshers got their inaugural pints!
Despite it being Edinburgh, it was a lovely day for a game of rugby.

We have since decided to raise money (along with GUVSFC) in Cameron's memor...
