β STAR SWIMMERS OF THE WEEK β
A massive well done to two of our brilliant swimmers! π’
π Orla was our Most Improved during Distance Week β she swam 5m last term and smashed it with 20m today! That's the kind of progress that makes us so proud. π
π
And huge congratulations to Jamie, who keeps improving every single week. Consistency like that is exactly how confident swimmers are made! πͺ
Watching our young swimmers grow in skill and confidence is the best part of what we do. Keep it up, superstars! π
π Want your little one to join the fun? Our children's swimming lessons in Glasgow are filling up β drop us a message to find out about availability.

βMy child wonβt put their face in the waterβ β we hear this ALL the time π
The good news? This is completely normalβ¦ and itβs something you can gently build at home π
Itβs not about forcing it β itβs about making it feel safe, fun, and on their terms.
Think:
π Blowing bubbles in the bath
π¦ Dripping water over their head (not pouring straight away)
π― Games like βwho can make the biggest bubbles?β
πβοΈ Relaxed family swims with ZERO pressure
Confidence in the water always starts with the face π

Front crawl vs breaststroke β which should kids learn first? π€
Most parents assume breaststrokeβ¦ but itβs actually front crawl that builds the foundations first π
π Better breathing
π Stronger body position
π Faster confidence in the water
Breaststroke comes later β once everything else clicks.
Every child is different, but confidence always comes first π

Should you be helping your child practise swimming outside of lessons? π
This is one of the most common questions we get as swim teachersβ¦
And the answer might surprise you π
Extra time in the water is AMAZING for confidence π
But when it comes to technique? Thatβs where things can get a bit confusing for kids.
The key is simple:
π More water time = yes
π Teaching new skills yourself = not always
Focus on building confidence, having fun, and reinforcing what theyβre already learning β thatβs where the real progress happens πβοΈβ¨

Is your child scared of the deep end? π
We see this ALL the time β and the good news isβ¦ itβs completely normal π
The deep end feels very different for children:
β They canβt touch the floor
β It looks darker
β It feels unpredictable
So of course it can feel scary.
But hereβs the key π
Confidence in deep water isnβt something you rush β itβs something you build, step by step.
With the right approach, support, and timeβ¦ that fear turns into confidence πβοΈβ¨
