For those sufferers of insomnia here is another Karate Newsletter that will cure that condition
KARATE CLASSES OVER OCTOBER SCHOOL HOLIDAY WEEK
There will be no karate class at Douglas Academy this Monday (tonight) and no karate classes onTuesday/Wednesday or Saturday morning at Notre Dame Primary.
Also no karate class will be held this Thursday at Knightswood Primary and due to the school Halloween party there will be no class on Thursday 24th October.
Kelvin Hall class is on as normal both Saturday and Sunday with the Sunday class being held upstairs in Studio 1.
KARATE GRADINGS IN NOVEMBER 2024
Please ensure grading applications are in before their closing date
NATIONAL (POSSIBLY INTERNATIONAL) KARATE COURSE MARCH 2025
The Kelvin Hall has been booked on Saturday 1st March and Sunday 2nd March for a National Karate Course with both kyu (colour belt below Black) and Dan (Black belt) grading being conducted.
Our sister club from Islay will be in attendance with possibly some of our European associates.
Further updated information on this event will be issued in 2025 to all members.

Good afternoon
I trust everyone is enjoying this leap year day as well as the bright sunshine.
Please take note that on Saturday 2nd March that both the normal classes at Notre Dame Primary and Kelvin Hall are cancelled in favour of the Karate Grading being held Saturday 2nd March at the Kelvin Hall from 10.30am to 12.30pm.
Even if you are not in for the grading you should attend the grading event as the way our Karate Association conducts gradings is by continual assessment and not just on the day
KARATE GRADINGS DURING MARCH
This is a rough timetable for the March gradings-
SATURDAY 2ND MARCH 2024
10.30am - All candidates in for the grading must arrive at Kelvin Hall by 10.30am for candidate enrolment to be confirmed
10.30am - 10.45am: both juniors and seniors participate in a general warm up
10.45am - 11.15am: both groups taken through basic movements of Karate (Kihon) - such as kicking, punching and grappling drills
11.15am - 11.20am: refreshment break
11.20am - 11.50am: all candidates to be tested on their Karate forms (Kata) to the standard of both their existing grade and proposed grade
11.50am - 11.55am: further refreshment break prior to colour belts awarded
11.55am - 12.15pm coloured belt ceremony, with successful candidates being awarded their new promotion with appropriate colour belt (referred to as Kyu grade in Karate)
Karate certificate(s) will be sent as pdf to successful candidates confirmed email address
12.15pm -12.25pm - photo time
12.30pm – Kelvin Hall Grading Completed
Grading at Douglas Academy will follow a similar format but spread over 2 Monday evening classes
KARATE BEANIES
We have a limited supply of Karate Beanies with our Karate Association logo for both children and adults that will be available free for registered members at the end of the grading - the way they will be dispersed will be advised on the day.
There will also be a limited number of Karate t shirts with our embroidered Karate logo at the grading - these are adult size ones which are being sold at the cost price of £12.00

Kelvin Hall classes will be on as normal on both weekends.
We have a class booked at Kelvin Hall on Wednesday 18th October from 7.00pm to 9.00pm for adults and children to attend.
There will be no karate classes on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday at our school venues next week.
