Second parliamentary debate of the year! Missed the first one? Don't stress. Come down to the GUU main lobby for the pre-debate on Monday, 22nd at 6pm to hear from our five club leaders. They will explain all the fun and chaos of the week as well as assign and help you write your speech throughout the week. Then on Friday, you will get a chance to give a speech in the GUU debates chamber and experience one of the GUU’s most unique traditions.

It's time for our first parliamentary debate of the year! Come down to the GUU main lobby for the pre-debate on Monday, 20th at 6pm to hear our five club leaders make their final attempt to persuade you to join their club. Your chosen leader will go over their club’s philosophy and arguments as well as break down the upcoming parli week!

Come join our 5 parliamentary leaders for drinks next Wednesday in the Bridie Library! Find out if you want to argue for anarchists, communists, liberals, authoritarians..... or just get to know everyone . Either way, it is the perfect opportunity to find our more about parliamentary debating and (most importantly) discover why we all love the socials so much!

We had a great first competition this semester in Edinburgh. The GUU had 100% of the teams and judges break. Isaac and Aly broke to the Semi Finals along with Rhea and Harvey who then made it to the Grand Finals and were both ranked in the top 10 speakers of the comp!!
Ananya judged the Grand Final and Chaired a Semi Final of Edinburgh Cup. Emma broke as a Judge at Edinburgh Cup and was also a Chief Adjudicator at Edinburgh WGM. She also ran a half marathon this weekend for Mind Charity.

Our first speaker training of the 2023-2024 season is coming up quick! This Tuesday at 6pm in the Bridie Library, we will be going over the basics of British Parliamentary Debating and will have the opportunity to participate in the first practice debate of the year! No experience or membership necessary, just bring a pen and paper and we'll see you there!
