The Vanguard Centre

The Vanguard Centre offers HEMA (historical swordfighting) and archery, close to Glasgow city centre!

The Vanguard Centre is a converted railway arch in the city centre of Glasgow. Just south of the Clyde, within 10 minutes walking distance of Central Station, We are well-situated and easy to reach. Our attendance fees are very competitive, and we have an onsite shop where you can see, handle, and try on gear before making any commitments to purchase anything. We have our own indoor archery range,

Ahoy, fencers! Fighters! Frolickers! Fanclub of any of the above!

Sunday Sparring this weekend at 3.30pm om the 7th, for our Intermediate fencing students, and friends of Vanguard from other clubs!

We'll be playing for 2 and a half hours, with some cool down stretches and banter time after 6.00pm (or later, if we're real busy!)

Ahoy Langschwerters!°

Get ready for Intermediate Longsword to tomorrow night, Thursday 4th June, wherein we will be studying the Absetzen according to Meyer, and extrapolating thrusting with Longsword from Meyer's Sidesword & Rappier material.

Jonny is also feeling fiesty, and wants to get in on some fencing action, so there will be some more coached sparring at the end!

Getcha bookings in for Intermediate Longsword on the Intermediate HEMA Booking System and we shall see for some explosive reactions tomorrow night!

Ahoy Broadsworders! Sabreurs! Cutlads and Cutlassies!

Wednesday evening, and we're doing some work on Broadsword Guards from the 18th century Highland method. Learn some shapes, reinforce some body mechanics, and test it all with plenty of games and fencing challengers!

Get booked in for some HEMA Broadsword and Sabre tonight from 7.30pm.

We also have a few spots left in our Open Archery Session at 6.00pm if you want to have a more sedate midweek workout.
