Our 1st Sandex major of this season was shared by Neil Gray & Gary Marchant who both shot stunning net 66s and will each take 575 Sandex points for their effort!👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Neil’s round of 66 (70) included 10 pars along with 4 birdies at the 5th, 8th, 9th & 16th holes as he went out in 35 and returned also in 35! Neil jumps up 15 places to 2nd overall! Superb golf mate! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Gary’s round of 66 (74) included 8 pars along with birdies at the 1st, 3rd & 11th holes as he went out in 37 and came home also in 37 blows! Gary shoots up 17 positions to 3rd overall! Different class, mate! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️
All alone on 3rd place we have this years Sandex Captain Michael “Spencer” Tracey with a cracking round of 67 (82)! Spencer’s round included 10 pars and no birdies as he went out in 42 and returned in just 40 blows.! No doubt a wee cut will follow!😉 Michael moves 45 places to 13th overall! 🤩👌Well played, mate! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️

In joint 4th position we have current Sandex Champion Cammy Fallan 68 (72) along with Scott Kelly 68 (79) & Jaimi Hunter 68 (79). Cammy’s round included 8 pars with birdies at the 6th, 10th, 11th plus a stunning eagle at the 16th as he we out in 40 and returned in just 32 blows!🤩👌Cammy moves up to 9th place in our leaderboard! Outstanding Golf, Champ!👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Scott Kelly’s round of 68 (79) consisted of 6 pars with birdies at both the 11th & 17th (magic 2) as he went out in 42 and returned in a respectable 37 shots!👍🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Scott jumps back up to 1st place as his fast start to his maiden Sandex season continues! Brilliant golf, mate!👌🎯⛳️🏌️‍♂️ The housewives’ favourite 😍😂Jaimi Hunters round included 10 pars with no birdies as he went out in 39 and returned in 40 blows! Jaimi jumps 32 positions to 12th as he starts to make a move towards that coveted final 9! Superb Golf, mate!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️

This week it’s the Adam Hunter Memorial with no Sandex points on offer due to the format! We will return the following week for Medal No:5 the Forgie qualifier before our mid-season break!😬🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Taking the 500 Sandex points on offer this week is Kenny “The Magician” Houston with a stunning round of 65 (73)! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Kenny’s round included 9 pars and birdies at the 3rd, 4th & 17th holes (magic 2) as he went out in 36 and returned in just 37 blows! Kenny now jumps up 30 positions to 3rd overall! 👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️Outstanding Golf mate!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Just missing out on the top honours this week with a superb round of 66 (77) we have Steven “Cal” McAllister! ⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Steven’s round included 13 pars along with a birdie at the 1st as he went out in 39 and came home in just 38 shots! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Cal moves up 8th place overall! Brilliant golf mate!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️

In joint 3rd place we have Barry “Akbar” Wilson with a cracking round of 68 (70)!👳🏻‍♂️🤩⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Barry’s round consisted of 9 pars with 5 birdies at the 2nd (magic 2) 4th, 10th, 11th & tough 18th cruising out in 35 and returning home in just 35 blows! 🤩👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️He even managed to include a double at the 12th!👀😬🫣😂👍⛳️🏌️‍♂️Barry moves up to 10th place overall! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Different class, mate!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Sharing the 162.5 points for 3rd place is new Sandex member Dean Patinson (hope I’ve spelled it correctly lol). Deans cracking round 68 (94) included 3 pars and a respectable 9 bogeys as he went out in 48 and came home 46 blows! Dean moves up 35 places to 22nd overall! Superb effort and welcome to The Sandex!😊👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️

In joint 5th position we have trio on net 69s!👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ WE have former Sandex Champion Gary “Gizzy” Somerville with his 69 (77) that included 9 pars along with a birdie at the 16th !Superb start to the season mate!👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Also with a 69 (78) we have Andy Harley who’s round included 12 pars with birdies at the 4th & 16th holes! Andy moves up to 24th overall! Well played mate👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️Last but not least we have our new Sandex leader Kevin McKenzie with his 3rd sub net 70 round of this season with a cracking 69 (74)! Kevin’s round included 9 pars along with birdies at the 5th, 8th & 17th (magic 2) holes as his early season form has catapulted him to that coveted number 1 position!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️🎯🤩 Superb Golf mate!👏🎯🏌️‍♂️⛳️ You are now the man they all have to catch! 🎯👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️

This weekend it is our 1st Sandex Major of the season! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️The Gordon Goodall Memorial (Medal No:4) will be our 5th Sandex counter of this year but being a major there will be 750 Sandex points on offer for 1st place! 👀🤩⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Although, the Leaderboard is starting to take shape with a few notable players positioning themselves with good early season form, taking the 750 points on offer this weekend can propel you straight to the top instantly !👀👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Some absolutely outstanding Golf was on show from our Sandex patrons over as everyone seemed to be on a birdie blitz over the weekend!👏🎯⛳️🏌️‍♂️

In joint 1st position with stunning net 64s, we have David Bryans & Fraser Harris who both take 400 Sandex points this week !👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

David Bryans brilliant 64 (70) included birdies at the 1st 2nd (magic 2) 3rd and 10th holes as he raced out in just 36 and returned with an impressive 34 shots!👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️ David moves up 52 places in our leaderboard to 6th overall ! Superb golf mate!👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Fraser Harris’s cracking round of 64 (71) included birdies at the 1st, 9th & 15th (magic 2) as he went out in 36 and returned in just 35 blows!👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Fraser jumps 11 places to 3rd overall – looks like all that hard work at Clydeway over the winter is starting to pay off mate!😊 Different class👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

All alone in 3rd place we have Kevin McKenzie with a superb round of 66(72)!👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Kevin’s round included birdies at the tough 5th 14th & 16th holes as he went out in 37 and came home in just 35 shots! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Kevin consolidates his early form and moves in to 2nd overall! Great start to the season mate!👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Such is the quality on show this week we have multiple players taking the 108.8 Sandex points for finishing in 4th with net 67s!👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Former Sandex Champion Gary “Gizzy” Somerville is maintaining his early season form 67 (75) which included birdies at the 5th & 15th holes! 👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️Mr consistent, Jason Wedlock 67 (77) with birdies at the 4th, 11th & 12th holes! Superb Jason👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Out of nowhere with a stunning scratch round of 69 (67) is Martin “The Inferior” Friel with a round that included birdies at the 2nd, 11th, 14th & 16th holes !👌🏌️A bit of form at last ‍Martin 😂👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Last but not least we have Stevie Johnston 67 (79) with 10 pars and now jumps 35 places to 25th overall! Excellent golf mate!👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

What a great standard we had this week with 10 players shooting net sub 70 scores. However, they are all chasing Scott Kelly who sits proudly at the top of our Sandex Leaderboard. It’s still early yet but you are the man they all have to catch!😊🎯🏌️‍♂️⛳️👌

What a cracking day we had on Saturday for Medal No:1. 👍⛳️🏌️‍♂️

The results have now been verified by our Sandex admin (Tin Tin)! 🙂👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

It appears that our very own Franny “Stricker” McLean managed to take the 500 Sandex points on offer this week with a “stunning” round of 65 (73)! 👀🤩👍⛳️🏌️‍♂️Franny’s round included 11 pars along with birdies at the 10th & 12th holes as he raced out in 37 & returned in just 36 shots! 👌This result has come as a complete shock to Franny as the “owners’ group” sweep will confirm, he rarely ‘wins’ anything !🧹👀😬🤥😂💸💰 Franny’s appearances will be few and far between this season but for now he now sits in 2nd place overall! 👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

Missing out by just the 3 shots this week (👀😂) is former Sandex Champion Gary “Gizzy” Somerville! Gizzy’s superb round of 68 (76) included 7 pars with birdies at the 1st & 16th holes and an eagle at the 4th after a drive to 4 feet!👣 👏⛳️🏌️‍♂️ 🦅 Gizzy takes the 300 points for 2nd as he went out in 36 and returned home in 40! He jumps from 14th to 4th overall! Outstanding Golf, mate!👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️

All alone in third place we have Brian Carlin with a cracking round of 69 (82)! Brian’s round included 5 pars with a birdie at the tough par 5 first hole as he went out in 41 & returned again in 41 blows! Brian take the 190 points on offer for 3rd as he rises 30 places to 6th in out leaderboard this week! 👏👌Cracking golf mate🏌️‍♂️⛳️

WE have a trio tied in 4th place this week all shooting net 70s and taking 115 Sandex points. Firstly, we have 2 x Sandex Champion Ian “ Boris” McLaughlin with an outstanding scratch round of 70 (70)!🤩👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Boris’s round included 10 pars along with birdies at the 3rd, 5th, 15th (magic 2💸) and 16th holes as he went out in 36 & came home in just 34 shots!👀👏 Different class – those new wands are starting to pay off mate! 🪄🤩👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️Also with a cracking round of net 70 (72) we have Barry “Akbar” Wilson! 👳🏻‍♂️👌🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Barry’s round included 10 pars along with birdies at the 4th, 7th (🤩) and 16th holes as he went out in 36 and returned in just 34 shots!👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Another who has invested in new wands this season!🤩🏌️‍♂️⛳️🪄 It certainly seems to be paying off !👌💸 Barry moves up to 11th overall! Outstanding Golf mate!👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Last but not least of our 4th placed trio is new Sandex member Graeme Armstrong! 👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️ Graeme’s cracking round of 70 (78) consisted of 9 pars with a birdie at the par 5, 16th hole, as he went out in 39 and returned again in 39!🙂👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Graeme moves up 6 places to 10th overall! Excellent golf mate and welcome to the Sandex!🙂👌👍⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Some cracking scores recorded over the weekend, and our leaderboard is now taking shape! However, it’s a marathon not a sprint so plenty of time to hit form and move up that Sandex leaderboard into that coveted top 9! 🙂🎯👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️

Spring Meeting result: 18th April 2026 Sandyhills Golf Club

The results are in and now confirmed!

Making his debut in this year’s Sandex and taking the 500 points on offer this week is Scott Kelly with a magnificent round of net 67 (80). Scott’s round included a birdie at 8th along with 9 pars as he went out in 39 and returned in 41 (double at the last 🫣)! Looks like Scott has been putting in the hard graft over the winter and is reaping the early rewards! A fantastic start to your Sandex career Scott, well played!🏌️‍♂️⛳️👌

Also making his Sandex debut this year and just missing out on taking maximum points is Kevin McKenzie. Kevin shot a cracking round of 68 (75) that included 10 pars along with birdies at both the 4th & 16th holes as he went out in 38 and returned in 37! Another great start to your Sandex career ! 😊👍Well played Kevin!⛳️🏌️‍♂️

In third place we have regular fast season starter Jason Wedlock with a superb round of 69 (79) which included 6 pars and birdies at the 13th & 16th holes as he went out in 42 and stormed home in just 37 blows. Superb Golf, Jason – hopefully you keep that good work going throughout the season mate!😊👍🏌️‍♂️⛳️

In joint 3rd place also receiving 162.5 precious early season points is Matt’s Da! Matt’s Da's brilliant round of 69 (83) consisted of 7 pars and a magic 2 at the 13th as he went out in 44 and returned in a respectable 39 blows with a wee double at the last.😱 Pure pressure Matt!🫣😂Well played mate and as always better than the boy!😂👌⛳️🏌️‍♂️

What a week it’s been for the coolest man at SGC Mr Paul Holmes !Not only did he manage a hole in one at the 17th on Friday evening!👏👌🎯🏌️‍♂️⛳️ He has also secured 110 Sandex points for finishing 5th with a brilliant round of 70 (79). Pauls round included 7 pars and a birdie at the 10th – surprisingly he also bogeyed the 17th 🫣😂⛳️🏌️‍♂️Well played mate! 👏🏌️‍♂️⛳️ Golf has that habit of making us all look stupid at times lol

The Sandex - 2026 *Season Announcement*

We are again excited to announce that “The Sandex” sweep is back for the 2026 Medal Season at Royal Sandyhill’s Golf Club! 🏌⛳️🏆 Sandyhills Golf Club

It’s incredible to think we are now entering our 9th Sandex Season at Sandyhill’s Golf Club. During that period, we have paid out over £20K to our participants & Champions.💷

Format:

The Sandex Competition format is based on the current FedEx Cup Points system, where each participating member acquires points dependant on where they finish within that day’s medal. These points & Sandex Leaderboards will be updated at the earliest opportunity after Sandyhill’s Golf Club publishes the respective medal results. 🏌⛳️🏆

The Sandex History

The Sandex was formed in 2017 by a group of Sandyhill’s G.C members with the purpose of creating a season long competition that would encourage SGC members to increase their medal participation at Sandyhill’s Golf Club & more importantly to complete them! We’ve all at times walked off at the 7th hole after nightmare starts to medals. However, there have also been plenty of occasions when that nightmare start has turned into something decent after 18 holes! By adding a competition element that runs on a point-based system, it seems to have encouraged our members to keep going when the Golfing Gods are not smiling! 😉 That for us is what “The Sandex” is all about. 😊

Proposed schedule & changes for the 2026 Season:

Regular Season: 13 Qualifiers – Best 8 scores from 13 Medals (Qualifiers - 18th April to the 5th of September 2026)

There will be no play offs again this year! The top 9 players with the best 8 scores from 13 medals will proceed straight to this year’s Sandex Final, which is scheduled to be played over 36 holes on Saturday the 12th of September.

As you will notice, there will be an extra medal with your 8 best scores counting out of 13 qualifiers, this gives a bit of flexibility around holidays and a bit more room for manoeuvring around your daily life & tasks etc. This year we will also introduce bonus Stableford points to incentivise the players who finish in the top 5 positions within our end of regular season Leaderboard. This will reward the players in relation to their finishing position and give the top 5 a bit of a "deserved" head start to the final. The additional bonus points will be added to the final 36-hole totals at the end of this year’s final and should make things a bit more interesting throughout the day!

1st = 5 bonus points
2nd = 4 bonus points
3rd = 3 bonus points
4th = 2 bonus points
5th = 1 bonus point
6th to 9th = No bonus points.

All Finalists will be announced on our FB page and notified via e-mail at the earliest opportunity after our last qualifying medal on the 5th of September!

To add some increased point scoring opportunities, we will once again have “Sandex Majors” during the season! There will be 4 Sandex Majors where increased points will be on offer – these majors at will be positioned at various intervals throughout the season (see our key dates)!🏌⛳️🏆

The Sandex Final (12th, September 2026) – Current Sandex Champion Mr Cameron Fallan 🏆

The 2026 Sandex Final will again consist of the top 9 players who have accumulated the most points during the Sandex qualifying season and just like in the last few years, the Sandex Final will be played over 36 holes via the Stableford format (now with additional bonus points). The winner with the most points after the 36 holes will receive “The Sandex” Trophy along with a cash amount (TBC) from the “sweep” fund! 🏌⛳️🏆

The Sandex - 2026 Joining Instructions

Do you think you have what it takes to prise current 2026 Sandex Champion Mr Cameron Fallan’s title away from him? If so, we are ready hear from YOU now! 🏌⛳️🏆

Everyone who has previously participated or was contacted last year & has expressed an interest to join, shall receive an e-mail invitation later tonight or tomorrow (17th of March), with all the details for 2026’s competition.

The Sandex takes a fair bit of organisation, therefore we would appreciate a prompt response with your joining intentions. The cut off for joining & payment of fees this year will be the 13th of April! Joining Fees will stay as normal at £50 for the full 2026 Sandex season.🏌⛳️🏆

AS always, we are happy to invite new members to join SGC’s No.1 sweep. However, in order of fairness to our loyal Sandex patrons & to keep the integrity of the competition. We shall require that any new Sandex joiners must have played as a member at Sandyhill’s Golf Club for at least 1 year.
