Mount Vernon Bowling Club

Congratulations to our Gents team on winning Division 1 of the Bill's Tool Store North Eastern League for the second year in a row. Some excellent performances this year both home and away. Thank you to President Brian for providing some hospitality on Friday evening. We still have one game to go in the League this Friday 12th June against North British, and then the week after see's our first Lanarkshire League game with Divisions 1 & 8 starting off at home, whilst Division 12 are away. Good luck guys and let's keep it going!

Last weeks results:

On Tuesday in the Ladies West of Scotland fixtures, Lesley Trainor won in the Singles, but unfortunately the Pairs & Triples were down.
At night in the Gents Scottish Fixtures Kyle McCabe won in the U25 Singles.

On Wednesday in the Ladies Lanarkshire Singles Debbie Horn won.
In the Gents GBA fixtures the Rink & Junior Singles won but unfortunately the Triples were down.

On Thursday afternoon in the Scottish Seniors, unfortunately both Singles were down. At Night the Singles, both Pairs and the Rink won, unfortunately the Triples were down.

On Friday night in the GEEWBL Division 1 & 3 both won, but Division 2 were down.
In the Gents Bill's Tool Store NEL it was 2 up at home and 1 up & 1 down away against Sandyhills.

On Saturday in the Ladies Scottish both Singles won through, but unfortunately the Pairs were down. On Sunday the Ladies Triples also managed to win through!

Yesterday we held our first Mixed Ryder Cup of the year with 4 teams and 52 players competing! A big thank you to all the players who took part in what was a great fun day.
In the main section Debbie Horns team faced off against Ken Coats team, with Debbie's defending champions making it through to the final. In the other section Presidents Brian & John teamed up to defeat Stuart Scobie's team and progress to the final.
In the Final it could have went either way with most of the 6 matches in the balance, but one against Debbie's team pulled ahead for the victory 4-2 to hold on to the win!
We are holding another one of these days in September so if you fancy joining in as well make sure you sign your name up for it!
A big thank you to Coffee Corner for providing the. Catering for yesterday's tournament, excellent as always!

Saturday 27th of June we have our Gents Open Triples. We still have a few spaces left, drop us a message or contact Alistair to reserve your place!

Our penultimate game in the Bill's Tool Store NEL is taking place this Friday 5th of June at 6.30pm. We play Sandyhills with 2 rinks home and away, why not come down and cheers the guys on. Good luck to everyone involved!

Ladies Results for this week:

On Monday in the Scottish in the Senior Single Alison Boyd won through, while unfortunately Alison Noon was down. The Senior Rink got a walkover.

On Friday in the GEEWBL Division 1 won 12-10 against Garrowhill, Division 2 lost out by 2 shots to Dennistoun and Division 3 won by 1 shot against Riddrie!

On Saturday in the Scottish fixtures both Alison Boyd & Laura McCabe won through, while the Pairs received a walkover.

Yesterday we held our Gents Ryder Cup which saw President Bryan's team coming away victorious 42 -34 over Vice President Stuart's team. Well done to all who took part and made it a great day!

On Tuesday in the Scottish U25 Singles it was a win over Sandyhills.

On Wednesday in the GBA it was a win for the U25 singles, the Triples & the Rink who all move on to the next round.

On Thursday afternoon in the Scottish both Senior Singles won through to the next round, while unfortunately the senior Rink was down.
In the evening Scottish fixtures it was a win for the Singles, both Pairs, Rink whilst the Triples received a walkover to the next round.
In the Lanarkshire fixtures the Singles won through, but unfortunately the Rink was down.

On Friday night in the Bill's Tool Store NEL against Foxley it was 1 win and 1 loss both home and away so a total of 5 points gained with just two matches to go.

Today in the Scottish Mixed Pairs it was a win against Bishopbriggs!

Sheets are already up for the Ryder cups, with a great response for the mixed day of over 55 names already!
