Nice feedback/ progress report from one of our Rutherlgen members Lorna 💪😁🙌

This has definitely been the toughest block so far, physically and mentally, but it's been good. I always make the effort to come along, even though there are times when I can't be bothered, and I always feel good afterwards. Each session is challenging in its own way and I enjoy it.

I've pottered about with some weight machines in gyms before but like you touched on in your email I would never have been confident or felt comfortable going near the free weights section. It's been really good for me not only learning things like squats and lifts I wouldn't have done before but also knowing how to do them correctly. It was really what I had been looking for. Not just things like that but everything else around mobility, core stability etc...it all plays a part and I've really enjoyed having a structure in place that I can stick to and knowing it's all complementing each other.

Thinking back towards the end of last year I was feeling a bit sluggish having not done much for a couple of months and I needed a kick up the backside which is why I signed up in the first place. I'd had some bother with my ankle after tripping down some stairs a while before that and would pick up some strains from running but since starting in January I've not had any problems or injuries which speaks for itself.

Thanks to you and all the coaches for putting on great sessions and seeing us through. I can't see how I could not do it now going forward. I love the emails you send out too. They always keep me motivated or remind myself to focus on me and how it's all relative. Next year my goal is to get back to running more because I haven't done a lot outside of the sprints sessions. I intentionally did it that way to be honest because I think it will be really interesting to see how I've improved after doing this for a good length of time now and seeing the impact it's had.

In general I feel much better in myself, fitter and stronger. I've lost about half a stone and gone down a jeans size too.

That is a wrap on 6 months of training here at the gym. Few pics from this mornings final gym session . Who knew tug of war was so hard eh? Haha. The ultimate "isometric" exercise haha.

We are all but finished for the summer both here and at The Shed...

Just want to say a massive thanks to every single person that has trained this year at both venues. Even if you dropped out, or missed few weeks or weren't as consistent as you wanted to be... you still came and did good work.

Making exercise a part of your life is crucial whether it's at a "bootcamp", playing football, going running, whatever it may be.. remember that first and foremost, your health benefits.

It was nice talking to a few of you this morning who I hadnt seen in a wee while who were really feeling food. " I think I've got the exercise bug...who knew?" Was what one of you said this morning...🤣 this tends to happen when you start to see progress... when it starts to click. But this takes time, patience and consistency.. all of which a lot of you have applied and presumably why you're coming back in August 😁

As usual- all the coaches are legends... I know how lucky I am to get to work with them. They have have their own qualities .

And the female coaches, Emma , Sarah, Kerry and Lucy are, as someone said this morning- great role models for other girls because they dont plaster their bodies over instagram and make it all about a "look". They help define the message we want to get across.

Training is about health and performance.

Yes, it's nice to feel more body confident and lose some weight and see changes in before and after pictures and I understand this is motivational to get you started and that it's nice to be able to wear clothes you want to becuase you feel more confident but if this is your sole goal or your main goal, it's very hard to remain happy and focused because their will always be something else to scrutinise.

And that is where our saying comes from-

Focus on improving health and performance, and the aesthetics will come as a nice by product of this.😁👌 ( becuase to improve both health and performance, you need to nourish your body properly with nutritious food, you DONT have to do that necessarily if your only goal is image driven or aesthetics.)

And this health isnt just physical, its mental health too. Very difficult to stay in a positive mindset if one of your main goals is to always try and "look" better. It's a never ending pursuit of perfection that doesnt exist.

Thanks everyone..have a great summer and see you in August where we hope to bring in some new starts too 😁

Another impressive progress pic ... One of the lads this time! Craig has nailed pretty much every session since he started at the gym in Rutherglen ... and has made some diet changes that have led to these exceptional results... this is what you would call an athletic physique 👌💪🙌

Hi Patrick and team!
Not one for taking photos like this but was motivated by all the amazing progress posts I’ve seen recently 💪
Just wanted to say thank you to all the coaches! Since I’ve started you’ve all been brilliant, so knowledgeable and committed to making sure everyone gets the best out of each and every session - This is especially true when the coaches help you push yourself by adding that extra weight on the bar, get one more rep done or jump on the prowler... all with a smile on their face haha.

Before I started I never liked what I seen in the mirror (especially as some t-shirts were getting harder to put on 😂) and I had no idea of what to do at the gym or with my diet, however I’m now definitely more aware of how to look after myself and in the best shape I’ve ever been in.
Still have one last session to go but I already can’t wait for my third block 😊

THIS is what you call a progress picture. They just keep on coming at the moment....
Robyn is one of our Rutherglen gym members and joined in January. As usual, these results only occur when the training is complimented by an improvement in diet...which Robyn explains what she did below.

Phenomenal progress in 8 months!

Hi Patrick,

Just reflecting on how much change I’ve seen in myself and got a wee burst of bravery to send these pics .

I honestly can’t thank yous enough for how much difference joining the camp has made to me since January. Much stronger mentally and physically!! And looking forward to the next block.

While I’m here I just want to give credit where credit is due. Everything regarding the classes is so well set out and organised. The coaches are amazing, there’s always someone keeping an eye out for you to make sure every exercise is done correctly. The class has brought back my confidence in being able to do exercise and confidence about myself. Iam loving the classes at the moment and all the info you put up on the page really helps too!! So thank you!!!

All down to all your fab coaches and your programme. I’ve always loved my food so allows me to still enjoy my food but feel good and healthy too!!
Can’t believe the difference myself! I hadn’t been watching the scales but weighed myself the other day n I’m almost 2 stone down!!

Before diet wise I was in a bad rut of convenience McDonald’s, greggs, anything close by 😂 I tracked for a while to educate myself on what was actually in food, but it started to become a bit of a chore so I changed it up bit and just make healthier choices now. Eating "cleaner" i.e opting for more healthy foods, less refined carbs, more protein, less processed food! Healthier treats too!

I was strict at the start but trying to keep at as a lifestyle change rather than a constant diet so I keep it up!!

Even signed up for a half marathon 😰 now that I have my confidence back. So again thanks!!! You’ve got a long term client 💪🏼

I received two enquires yesterday from people asking if they were "too old" for the programme. 53 and 51 respectively. This and " I'm worried I'm too unfit" are the most common worries or queries we receive. The answer is always the same..no you arent too old or too unfit.

So it was quite timely to receive this brilliant email and pictures this morning from Linda, one of our Rutherglen members who is 51 years old but literally has probably reduced her age by at least 15 years in terms of physical ability, strength, body fat levels etc ( which if you think about it- these are a few of the defining factors of "age")

Without question, Linda has been one of the standouts of the year due to her focus and willingness to take on board advice and dietary changes. In terms of performance and what she can now do- these progress pictures dont even do her justice. So much stronger, fitter, more muscle, less body fat and more importantly feeling great mentally.

SUPERB. 💪

Hi Patrick,

I didn’t imagine when I started bootcamp that I’d share these photos, but I hope it might help others who doubt what can be achieved in a relatively short period of time. Having always enjoyed exercising and keeping fit, I was in need of a new challenge when I started bootcamp last August.

Like many women (and men perhaps to a lesser extent), I’ve always been body conscious and critical of myself.

I would weigh myself almost daily and berate myself for not achieving my weight goals. This all changed when I signed up to what has been the most challenging and rewarding programme I’ve ever experienced.

What I realise now is, it doesn’t matter where you start from, there is no end point, you can keep progressing with your fitness and strengthening and that is so motivational.

It’s also changed my self image as I’m no longer so bothered about what the scales say.

I’m more interested in how my body looks and feels, rather than my weight.

As a result, the mental health benefits are every bit as great as the physical.

At 51 years of age, I can honestly say I’m in the best shape of my adult life and know that I can continue to improve.

As much as I know I’ve put in a lot of work and effort, I couldn’t have achieved that consistency without the help, enthusiasm and unstinting support of you and all the coaches.

Each and every one of you is so committed to ensuring we get the most out of each session and that has kept me coming back week after week.

So thank you and please keep doing what you do...it is life changing!

Linda

I have got out the way the last year or so of posting regular progress stories/ pics etc. Partly becuase I dont want people who may think about joining to think that progress like below is just a case of turning up.

Jen in her own words below has been very generous with her praise for the programme but this does a disservice to her...becuase it has all been her hard work. She didnt transform like this because she attended... it may have been the catalyst but it was life style changes that came from her. She chose to change her diet, chose to prioritise coming to the sessions regularly . I don't want to pretend that if you come to our programme you will get spectacular results, becuase that depends on you and what happens outwith the sessions.

The sessions develop strength, fitness, build muscle , athletcisim, self confidence and can AID in fat loss...but that only happens if it is complimented by a good diet or change of diet if need be. But, if you do what is required, training wise we take care of the rest.

The only thing I can say we can take credit for is those wonderful legs haha.

But it's safe to say, seeing her progress over the last year has been extremely satisfying and the sort of result that motivates us trainers simply due to the amount of job satisfaction it gives us having a small role in a result like this.

Hopefully this may help motivate anyone who feels a bit sluggish or fed up as it is an example of what can be done if you want to change .

Jen has had 3 kids in a short space of time so one thing to add is to any mums, be patient, dont over do it and before taking part in a strength and conditioning style programme, when you feel it's time to take a bit of you back, get some pelvic floor work done first at a reputable place or specialist.

This was 2 years ago after having Sophia and I suppose it shows what you can achieve with time and consistency. I just actually get scared to look at it because it’s so wild but to be fair I’d had 3 sections in 3 years 🤣🤦🏼‍♀️. I really think way you’ve done with the bootcamp is just so incredible and smart. And the fact you’ve let me join every time at random times on random classes and helped me so much to turn everything around. I really won’t ever be able to put into words how much it’s meant to me.

I mean on the left I felt like I didn’t recognise myself, I felt so low and tired and burst after having the babies and just quite broken and I would really never have imagined I could be how I am now where I feel properly athletic and strong. I still have a step on my stomach from 3 sections but I am proud of my body for everything it’s achieved and I think it’s really good to know you can literally turn anything around that you want to if you put your mind to it.

I am actually terrified of people seeing the first pic but if it helps motivate someone then so be it!! Look at the tan of David Dickinson without a filter over it ahahah

This year I've lost about 3 stone but more importantly feel like a god damn athlete! Lol. I feel so happy and strong and the best I have felt In my adult life even pre kids. The reason for this success has been entirely down to the bootcamp and the mindset its created and changes I've made in life generally as a result. It has changed my life and I love it more than anything. If you'd like to join, it will be the best thing you ever do.
