Core exercises

When we talk about core exercises everyone looks at the usual sit ups, bicycles, wipers and so on….

Why can’t a heavy squat be a core exercise?

Resistance is in simple terms is
a force applies to muscles and joints, so when I perform this double kettlebell squat yes my legs are predominately the muscles being worked but at most weights the different muscles from my ‘core’ need to be used to keep me upright throughout the lift.

Consider this when building your sessions that “EVERY EXERCISE IS A CORE EXERCISE”

If you want to add reps to your abs using the other exercises mentioned above feel free but use them as an accessory and make sure to utilise the equipment in the gym for the time you’re there.

Past few days have been great to be out and about.

The most underrated value in weight/fat loss is daily activity, walking a minimum of 10,000 steps per day will take you far in your journey. If you’re not quite at 10,00 steps just try reach for a little more each day or week and you’ll be there in no time.

Always helps when you have a good view

taking the 15s for 15 reps on the bench.

The man makes it looks so easy and the key part of this is Tempo. He could definitely lift heavier but we’ve been working on range through the movement and keeping it steady. Doing any lift with a good steady tempo can make it more tricky anyway so we’ll done Joshua another week in the bag 🙌🏻

How do you prepare for the week?

Not everyone’s fridge has to be in order all the time but giving yourself the best opportunity to succeed with your eating during the week sets you up for success.

Doesn’t have to be a week at a time even a day is a good start and make sure you do your best to stay consistent.

Exercise doesn’t always have to be pretty.

Exhibit A 😂

Sometimes we don’t have enough time to get through a full session so you have just got to make do with the time you do have.

Could I be bothered today? Absolutely not.

Did I do it anyway? Absolutely did.

It won’t always be you’re best day in the gym and you won’t always feel your best but consistency trumps intensity everyday of the week and twice on a Sunday.

60-70% of something has more benefits that 100% of nothing.

Hey guys seen this on squat academy and thought that it’s very relevant to what we’ve been doing recently.

Not every single workout is going to leave you in a puddle on the floor sometimes gradual increases in sets/reps can lead to a performance goal (which you’ve all been working on).

I prefer to use performance goals as they help you stay on track weight/fat loss can fluctuate week to week especially for females but a goal such as making deadlift heavier or benching X amount is something that you have to consistently do so it makes you accountable.

It’s good to get a right good blowout now and again. Although training will improve your “exercise” exercise won’t always improve your training so good to know the difference.

Joshua pushing out back squats for the first time in a long time after a few ankle set backs.

50kg is a great start back at them, decent depth and only going to get heavier in the coming weeks!

KB press- excellent for working the shoulders and making the super strong.

Keep your knuckles facing to the ceiling to protect , the kettlebell should move straight up like it’s in an elevator. Finish with bicep at your ear and that will give you a little stacking through the joints so it feels like a little rest at the top.
