🏑 West District Round-Up

It was a big weekend across the leagues with Western 3rd XI crowned Division 1 champions after a 7–1 win 🏆 while Division 2 saw two incredible 15–0 scorelines from Uddingston 3rd XI and Dumfries 😲

There was also a comeback win for Rottenrow, a crucial survival victory for Western 4th XI, and only one game played in Division 3 due to postponements.

1️⃣Helensburgh edged a 14-goal thriller in Division One, Western continued their strong form at the top of the table, and there were key results impacting promotion and survival battles across the leagues.

2️⃣In Division Two, Uddingston 3rd XI remain unbeaten, while Rottenrow and Kelburne picked up important victories.

3️⃣Division Three saw another big weekend for Rottenrow 3rd XI, alongside wins for Anchor and Hillhead.

From the 1st to the 8th March Scotland men will be competing at the FIH World Cup Qualifiers in Santiago, Chile. What many people may not know though is how many of the playing squad have their roots in Scottish Hockey West District. Callum Douglas, Ian McFadden, Andrew McCallister, Andy McConnell, Ali Douglas, AJ Lochrin, Lee Morton, Tommy Austin, Struan Walker and Rob Harwood are that sizeable part of the Scotland squad who will be playing in Pool B against France, Wales and the hosts Chile a group they must qualify from if they are going to attain that magical bronze medal at least to qualify for the World Cup. An achievement that would mark a first-ever appearance at a men's FIH Hockey World Cup for Scotland and with the Hockey World Cup Finals being held in Belgium and the Netherlands a handy place for an August adventure. Do well guys West will be watching.
