AET
*Lochaber Win - Sudden Death Penalties
WCA Mowi Valerie Fraser Camanachd Cup
“A game for the history books, and an excellent display of competitive women’s shinty.
After a tense first half, Lochaber were on top with a 2-0 lead. This, however, would not be the case for long - with the GMA girls scoring 3 excellent goals in the second half to lead 3-2 with only 7 minutes to go. Despite our best efforts to put the game to bed, Lochaber equalised - taking the game to extra time.
The spectacle wasn’t over yet, with Lochaber scoring their 4th goal to regain the lead for a large period of extra time. It seemed the game had been secured, however in the final seconds of extra time, Katie Drain scored our 4th goal of the game and took the match to penalties.
After the first round of penalties was drawn even, Lochaber secured their victory in the first round of sudden death.
We feel this game was a testimony to all the hard work we’ve been putting in this summer - week in week out, rain or shine. Every player gave their all, right to the final whistle. Well done to Lochaber, and best of luck to both teams in the final.
MOTM: Lucy McNulty. Truly relentless.”
