Pre Season friendlies, getting the boys ready for the season ahead 💪🏼🔴⚫️⚽️

Back to business. 💪⚽

The boys returned to action today after the summer break with their first pre-season fixture against a strong Clydebank side.

With a few players still away on holiday and some new faces joining the squad, it was a great opportunity to get valuable minutes into the legs.

We started brightly, keeping the ball well and showing plenty of composure in possession. Despite controlling large spells of the first half, we couldn't find a way through a well-organised Clydebank defence, who were dangerous on the counter with their pace out wide. Half-time: 0-0.

We came out flying after the break and spent most of the second half in the Clydebank half. The breakthrough came when Oliver fired home a brilliant right-footed strike 🔥. Soon after, Zach doubled the lead with an outstanding effort from distance into the top corner 🚀. Clydebank pulled one back from the penalty spot with around 15 minutes remaining, but the boys responded brilliantly. Cooper produced a fantastic run before smashing the ball home ⚽️ to restore our two-goal cushion and seal a deserved 3-1 win.

A solid first outing, plenty of positives to build on, and more players returning to the squad this week.

Our goalkeeper Tommy played his last League game for Holytown tonight as he moves onwards and upwards to Hearts, we wish him all the best and what better way to go than him scoring the winning penalty 🙌👏🏼🔴⚫️⚽️
