A-frame pillars present a unique hazard to cyclists, being wide enough on modern cars to totally obscure narrow vehicles like bicycles. When a bicycle and a car close in towards each other at a junction at the right speed, a cyclist can be wholly covered by this blind spot until it is potentially too late.

We always advocate trying to make eye contact with drivers at junctions, and if you can't see their eyes, adjust your speed either way to negate this.

One of our volunteers took part in her very first bike refurbishment session, getting hands-on with the skills needed to bring bikes back to life!

Our refurbishment sessions are a great way to learn something new, build confidence, and help get more bikes back into the community.

What exactly is a Dr. Bike?

Think of it as a free health check for your bike.

Whether you ride every day or your bike has been sitting in the shed for a while, our mechanics will give it a thorough safety check, carry out minor adjustments where possible, and let you know if anything needs a little more attention

πŸ”§ Make sure your bike is safe to ride
🚲 Keep it running smoothly
πŸ’° Catch small issues before they become costly repairs
πŸ’¬ Get expert advice from our friendly mechanics

As part of the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Festival (), we're running free Dr. Bike sessions at locations across Glasgow for the next few weeks, making it even easier to get your bike checked and ready to ride.

Check out our upcoming events and come along with your bike!

Having access to a bike can make a real difference. It makeseveryday journeys easier, more affordable and more independent.

Congratulations on the new job, and we're proud to play a small part in supporting the journey. πŸ§‘πŸ’š
