๐ฆบ VOLUNTEERS STILL NEEDED๐ฆบ
A wee appeal to the wider Glasgow running community ๐
The Brian Goodwin Memorial 10k is now sold out, with runners from clubs across Glasgow and beyond taking part - but weโre still short of volunteers to help us deliver the race safely on the night.
If youโre not running, injured, supporting someone, or just fancy being part of one of the best Friday nights in the Scottish road racing calendar, weโd be hugely grateful for your help.
Volunteers are needed from around 6pm at Cartha Queenโs Park Rugby Club in Pollok Park. The race starts at 7.30pm and most roles should be finished by around 9pm.
We offer a front-row seat to a brilliant race, a big thank you, and a beer and burger afterwards ๐๐บ!

Itโs been another busy spell for the Harriers, with members racing across the country and producing some fantastic performances.
Six Harriers made the trip to Troon on a dreich Wednesday afternoon for the 39th Troon 10k. Despite the gloomy conditions, there were excellent runs all round from Ewan Lachlan, Claire Fitzsimmons, Pauline Henderson, Gordon Clannachan, Christine McKay and Elizabeth McGrady. A special mention goes to Pauline, who claimed 1st place in the V60 category โญ๏ธ
On 15th May, Darren Shields took on the challenging Black Rock โ5โ race in Kinghorn. Conditions were favourable, although there were a few wet and slippery sections underfoot. Darren tackled the tough course well, crossing the line in 38:27. Well done Darren ๐
Meanwhile, Graeme Campbell competed in the Gryffe Valley Rotary 10k, a scenic but testing mixed-terrain route along the country lanes of the Gryffe Valley area. Graeme finished in a superb 47:27, 3rd place in the M50 category ๐ฅ
Further south, Karen McQuarrie delivered another outstanding performance, finishing as 1st female at Born Survivor ๐ฅ An amazing achievement from Karen ๐ช๐ป

2 Mile Time Trial โ Summer Champs Race 5 โ๏ธ
A brilliant night of racing at Bellahouston Harriers as 33 runners took on Race 5 of our Summer Champs series over the 2 Mile Time Trial. Thankfully the rain stayed away, making for fast conditions on our newer, flatter route.
๐จ Alasdair Campbell led the field home in a rapid 9:50, with Callum Wallace next across the line in 10:36. Third place saw a close battle between Alistair Munro and David Griffin, with Alistair just taking it in 11:32.
๐คฉ The womenโs race was incredibly close, with only six seconds separating the top three. Julie Lynch took the win in 12:20, closely followed by Marianne Wilson in 12:23, while Emma OโDonnell completed the podium in 12:26.
A huge thanks as always to the volunteers and organisers who make evenings like this possible:

Oban Social Weekend
A total of 32 Harriers arrived in Oban by train, car, van and motorbike, armed with running gear โ and even a snorkel or two ๐คฟ Optimistic for the west coast of Scotland! ๐คฃ
Friday kicked off with a run to Ganavan Sands, followed by a brilliant hostel dinner and plenty of laughs before an early night ahead of Saturdayโs adventures.
After a hearty โweeโ breakfast, 30 Bellas took on the hilly Ganavan Sands Parkrun, with others volunteering as scanners, tail walkers and timekeepers.
Next came the ferry to beautiful Kerrera, where groups tackled either an 11km run to the castle or an 8.5km route to the monument. Stunning views, plenty of hills and essential fuel stops courtesy of Kirstyโs chocolate cake and Derekโs banana bread!
Saturday evening brought another excellent meal before most people crashed out by 10pm after a full day in the sea air.
Sundayโs options were a hilly 10km run to Pulpit Hill and Druim Mor or a walk to McCaigโs Tower. The rain finally arrived, but it didnโt dampen spirits.
Whether people walked, ran, cycled, swam or snorkelled, everyone had a great weekend. We had Bellas from their 20s to their 70s, long-time and new members, faster and slower runners โ a real reminder of how inclusive our club is ๐๐
26/05/2026
Bellas were joined on Friday evening by guests from the , , Run Club and other local clubs for a very informative seminar on Perimenopause and Menopause in Running ๐โโ๏ธ
The sixth in our quarterly seminar series, the session was presented by Hampden Sports Clinicโs .mitchell.physio , Advanced Physiotherapy Practitioner, and Marianne Hayward, Performance Nutritionist.
We were treated to a whistle-stop tour of how peri/menopause can affect running performance, with a strong reminder that strength training is non-negotiable ๐ช - if we havenโt already started, now is the time.
On the nutrition side, carbohydrates and protein were highlighted as key ๐, and while some supplements can help, real food remains best. We were also reminded that consistency matters, along with fuelling and hydrating correctly ๐ง
Most importantly, there are no magic bullets - if we want to perform at our best during this stage of life, we should focus on the four pillars: exercise, nutrition, stress management and sleep ๐ด. Many thanks to Louise and Marianne for an excellent evening โค๏ธ

An outstanding day of racing all round in a stacked championship field ๐
โฐ๏ธ Race to the Base - Suilven
One of Scotlandโs most scenic trail races, the Race to the Base Half Marathon takes runners through remote Highland trails towards the foot of the iconic mountain Suilven. Kat Johnston represented the Harriers brilliantly, finishing in a strong 2:47:05 ๐๐ป
๐ด Caledonia Etape
Swapping running shoes for cycling cleats, four Harriers took on the famous Highland sportive through the closed roads of Perthshire. Huge well done to Sean Paul Havelin, Deirdre Harrington, Kayleigh Kavanagh & David Carson for taking on the challenge ๐ด๐จ

Congratulations to the newlyweds, Mr & Mrs Brown! ๐
Long-standing members Matthew and Katherine tied the knot on Saturday, and on behalf of everyone at Bellahouston Harriers, weโd like to wish them a lifetime of happiness together.
Both Matthew and Katherine have been central figures within the club for many years, giving countless hours in key roles that help keep the club running and thriving. Their contribution to Bellahouston Harriers over the years has been hugely valued by so many members.
Weโre also delighted that the club was able to play a small part in bringing them together - proof that a running club can offer far more than just faster times and race performances! ๐
Congratulations, Matthew & Katherine! ๐
