Our last away game of the season saw a trip to Hamilton to take on Mill Utd. We dominated the game almost completely although went in at half time only one goal to the good after missing a few clear cut chances. The goal came in the 24th minute with a nice side footed finish from Sandy with a nice the edge of the box. 1-0 HT

The 2nd half didn’t start so well when confusion in defence allowed the equaliser to be scored from inside the box low to Rurs right. This actually gave us the kick up the we needed and we went onto score 4 without reply including a hat-trick from Blake one of which was another for his collection with a fine control and volley finish over the keeper before Wilson completed the scoring with 7 mins to go. A decent display with some fine football played on a lovely sunny evening in Hamilton.

Next up title chasing Blantyre visit St Jo’s for our last game of the season, kick off Saturday is at 11.30.

Heartbreak, last minute winner from Inspire. What a horrible game of football in which the boys done us proud with their desire and commitment to the cause. A game of little football and even less chances came down to Inspire taking their chance at the end.

The boys got back to winning ways in resounding fashion. Straight from the kick off we dominated and were 3 up within the 1st 10 minutes with a double from Lewis & a rare goal for Noah. Two more goals before half time from Blake & Harris saw us go in at half-time 5-0 up.

We started the 2nd half well and two goals in 1st 5 mins saw us 7-0 up, the first from Lewis for his hat-trick and an even rarer goal from Louis! Wilson completed the scoring just before the hour mark with a nice side footed volley at the back post. A really good performance from the boys who never really allowed Gartcairn to get going.

Best wishes to the 1st Gartcairn goalie who took a sore one early on when making a save and also a mention the 2nd keeper who had some great saves. All the best to Gartcairn for the remainder of the season.

Next week we are at home again to W Academy at St Jo’s in the league with an 11ko

Saturday morning saw us travel to take on East Kilbride FC Gold in the league. A dramatic game ensued which we came out on the wrong side of and headed down the M74 with no points and the league challenge hanging by a thread.

We started the game really well winning most challenges and 2 balls before EK took the lead through a header from a set piece. EK then piled on the pressure a bit with their front two a constant thorn in our side. We managed to get to half-time just a goal down and a chance to reset. 0-1 HT

The 2nd half saw us quickly go a 2nd goal down before we could get going. We continued to huff and puff a bit without creating anything of note. We were then awarded a penalty after a long throw from Noah was handled in the box, G stepped up and converted. With our tails now up we quickly got a 2nd after a nice cross from Harvey was headed in at the back post by Harris. The Lewis finished nicely from the edge of the box looping one over the EK keeper. 3-2 up and flying … but as mentioned the two forwards from EK stole the game back in favour of the home side and they eventually ran out winners 5-3.

A rollercoaster of a game requiring huge character from both sides, the home side probably shaded it and took the 3 points. Definitely a better team than their league position suggests, best of luck for the rest of the season.

A special mention and big thanks to Jude who stepped in for Rurs in goal and done us proud.

Home to Gartcairn on Friday night at St Jo’s where we will look to try and get back to winning ways.
8pm KO.

Not to be, an uninspiring performance from the boys saw us limp out of the CLYFA Divisional Challenge Cup at the hands of Inspire.

We started the game pretty well and took the lead after nine minutes when a goal kick was flicked on by Lewis for Harris to finish well, lobbing the keeper from the left. Our lead lasted just a few minutes when we needlessly conceded a corner and failed to clear properly and a second cross was headed past Rurs for an own goal. On 25 mins Inspire were gifted the lead when an innocuous shot was diverted past Rurs for a 2nd own goal. HT 1-2.

The 2nd half we never really turned up, Inspire got their 3rd with a really well taken goal by the Inspire #4 who was a constant threat. The 4th followed soon on 45 mins when we failed to defend a corner and they could tap into an empty net. Inspire were allowed to see the game out too easily and will now take on Gartcairn in the semi for a place in the final.

Unfortunately we turned in one of our weaker performances and will need to do better in the six final league games to come out of the season on a positive note. We know we can do much better and look forward to rectifying it next weekend when we will have an away game in the league against East Kilbride.

All the best to Inspire in the next round, a deserved win tonight.
