8 goal thriller on the road.

Questions were asked before the game can we win on the road? Can we replicate our performance on Astro? The answer simply put was yes.

Game started off in true medics fashion with a classic 5 minute warmup even after asking the ref to delay the match.

Joseph plays Matty through in what would become a common theme throughout the match. Someone called them Son and Kane. That was themselves.

The keeper got nervous at the link up and froze and Matty tucks it away to go 1-0 up.

Jamie forgets that you’re supposed to save free kicks and their player scores a free kick that is hit slower than the length of time it takes Rory to buy a drink.

We then concede two back to back to go 2-1 down. Some talk from St Andrews was had until Porteous silenced them with his first long range finish of the game.

Conor decides to continue Zac Forbes’ legacy by clotheslining a player for absolutely no reason in the first half. Let them know you’re there they say…

A half time team talk of arguing only the latest episode of the Kardashians can compare to brings a much needed improvement in the second half.

Porteous plays Matty through and he rounds the goalkeeper to make it 3-2. Colder than an average Fred Oscarsson instagram post.

They score a worldie to make it 3-3.

3 minutes left of the game. The unthinkable happens. I’d rather we lost than I write this.

Here it goes.

Andrew Devine scores a looping header. Thinks he’s Alan shearer in his celebration but he does win us the game. Fair play.

Joe Porteous then attempts a goal of the season worthy goal from 25 yards out and scores to truly kill the game. 5-3

While this was not the medics at their best, excellent chance taking resulted in a good win which should secure our status as BUCS 4B finest. Mon the medics.

Disappointing result in Dundee. The team put in a shift with lads even playing through injuries, but in the end it wasn’t meant to be.

Dundee start the game off strong however the boys respond well and create a few chances. Around the 30th minute mark Dundee go through on goal and score with a tidy finish from the edge of the box.

Halftime 1-0 Dundee.

In the second half the lads defend well and control the game. Matty then produces a moment of magic, gets the ball, dribbles past 4 players and then finesses it into the corner. 1-1. Can’t forget to mention the wonderful pre-assist from Zac. That’s 3 goals for Matty this season with all of them from being outside the box. Man doesn’t do tap ins, long-range merchant.

Dundee get a few chances but gk Jamie had it all covered producing some unreal saves.

However in the late stages of the game Dundee score with a rebound off a long shot. Full time 2-1.

Some positives to take from the game, the lads gave it their all.
After a long year of football, next week is our last game of 2023 as we play St Andrew’s at home in the fortress of Balgownie. The team will be looking to bounce back and finish the year strong with a win.

Tomorrow another away day awaits for the boys as we travel down to Dundee again, this time to face Dundee 2s.

On the team front, the squad remains plagued with injuries. Leston is out with a quad injury, last week’s hero Callum is out with a dislocated knee. Nathan is out after picking up his glutes injury again. However VC Andrew makes a return to the squad.

The boys will be looking to build on from last week’s win.

Victory in Abertay.
The boys made the trip down the A90 for what seems like the 8th week in a row.
In typical medics fashion we arrived in the changing rooms with damp kits.

Game started with both teams having good chances with abertay seeing lots of the ball. Matty gets past a couple players, slides it through to JP and to everyone’s surprise it went in. 1-0 medics. What a finish from the talisman.

Abertay respond and score from a free kick after Zac attempted a roundhouse kick on their left winger.

Half time. 1-1.

Then it happens. The unthinkable. Callum Murray gets subbed on.

Mr muscles runs on the end of a through ball from Matty and bashes it past the goalkeeper. 2-1. Absolute scenes.

We then play some Mourinho ball for the rest of the game. Organised defensively and hit perfectly on the counter attack.

Scott decides to turn into Ronaldo, does a back heel chop pass to Matty who shoots from outside the box and it goes in with the aid of a deflection. 3-1.

All Stories should have a happy ending but not without a twist. As usual we concede to give us a heart attack and take 5 years off coach Andrew Devine’s life.

Then mr muscles takes it into his own hands and runs into the corner. Those hours at the gym helping out as a gap opens up. He plays in Scott who finishes in style (only because his girlfriend turned up to watch).

We need to talk about his celebration. He decides to give the ear to absolutely nobody. Then proceeds to do a knee slide in the middle of the pitch. On Astro. Guy clearly has never scored before.

A brilliant performance from the entire team. We defended brilliantly and attacked better. They can take the ball home, we will take the 3 points.

This win takes us to second in the league with this being our first win of the season. Kevin masterclass. Football heritage.

Tomorrow is Wednesday which means one thing: BUCS 4B football.

This week the lads are away down to Dundee to face Abertay 2s. The team will be looking to bounce back after last week’s unfortunate cup result.

In terms of team news, Conor returns to the squad from study leave. Callum returns from dog sitting duties. Nathan makes a return from his glutes injury and Leston returns from parental birthday leave.
Vice Captain Andrew remains out with an ankle injury which he picked up at Broadwood last week.

Come support the lads if you’re willing to make the long trip down the A90.
Mon the medics.

After two weeks out, the boys returned to the pitch with a slight downgrade on balgownie. A heated changing room, 3 stands and working electricity made the boys feel uneasy. This was proven by a metal pole launching an attack on Andy Devine causing him to not be able to play the game. Today he was a glorified taxi driver. Cheers mate 👍

A few boys thought the trip was too scary and chickened out of the beautiful town of Cumbernauld. Yet Ross Gillespie noted that this was a “once in a lifetime opportunity” to which he was met with raucous laughter in the changing room.

Matty insists to Kev that we should play a 5-3-2 with 3 CDMs and kevin lynch-genius agreed.

The game plan was working for 40 minutes with the score at 0-0 and quite possibly 3 passes completed by the medics. However, the opposition unfortunately scored a goal on the counter, just after the first time we realised there are two halves in a football pitch, not just ours.

We go into the break 1-0 down with heads held high.

We keep the plan going and eventually they score two distance goals, quick fire at around 70 minutes to kill the dream of penalties.

The boys can all be proud of themselves after playing brilliantly all game against a strong, strong team. The boys that cannot be proud are: Conor and Robert.

I would like to note that Kevin lynch small has yet to win a game as captain.
