Glasgow Community & Co-Operative League

The Glasgow Community Co-operative League aims to create an organised and well administered Sunday Football Championship.

Sides from across west central Scotland can take part regardless of age or ability, but more importantly, regardless of race, religion or sexual orientation. Violence, intimidation and unsporting behaviour are sadly common aspects of Sunday League football in Scotland. None of which will be welcome, nor tolerated.

Big news alert!

After 10 wonderful years as an independent charity football league, the Glasgow Community & Co-operative League is delighted to announce that we have agreed to amalgamate with the Glasgow & District Sunday Football Championship for the 2025/26 season onwards.

This was not an easy decision - we are incredibly proud of the achievements of the GCCL, in not only offering a safe and tolerant space for football, but also in raising money for and awareness of good causes. However, with changing footballing habits, it has become harder year on year to consistently deliver the sort of competition we want and to ensure that new teams entering the league commit to our founding principles and ethos.

For that reason, it was decided that the best course of action was amalgamation with the GDSFC, a well-established and incredibly successful Sunday league which is fully affiliated to the SFA and SAFA. We believe that being part of this larger organisation will best serve the interests of our clubs going forward, and look forward to working with our friends at the GDSFC who have had remarkable growth themselves over the last decade.

For some teams, it will even be a return to familiar surroundings, with some GCCL teams having been GDSFC members for many years in the past.

Thank you to everyone who has contributed to the GCCL's successes over the last decade, from sponsors to fans, volunteers of course, all the wonderful players who made it all possible. We hope that the league's founding ethos of community, co-operation, openness and non-violence can follow our teams into the new setup.

We had a good run of it...now it's time to get excited for the next chapter!

GCCL Cup Final Full-Time score:
Garnock 0-4 Rossvale

Congrats to Rossvale, who lift the GCCL Cup after an impressive performance. Commiserations to Garnock, who created some good chances of their own but couldn’t find a finish.

That brings to an end the 2024/25 GCCL season. Thanks to all the players, coaches, referees, volunteers and supporters who contributed to another brilliant season of Sunday league football.

Tomorrow (Sunday 8th June) is the big showpiece finale to the GCCL season as the GCCL Cup final takes place at New Tinto Park (Benburb).

It is sure to be a tight game as GCCL founding club Garnock Sunday F.C. take on Rossvale Sunday Amateurs in a 2pm ko.

This is a match between two of the league's top sides. Rossvale finished the season in 2nd place, their youthful energy and attacking verve seeing them keep pace with Spartans all season before agonisingly falling just short of a league title - they'll be desperate to see out the season with some silverware. Garnock, meanwhile, ended up in 4th place with a squad who have been over the course before and put out hotly-tipped Spartans in the cup semi-final with a dramatic penalty shootout win.

It's sure to be an excellent game, and we'd love to see as many neutrals there as possible to cheer on both teams. Entry is free, although there will be a bucket collection for Teenage Cancer Trust.

2pm ko, New Tinto Park, Sunday 8th June.

Congratulations to Caledonian Spartans FC, who were the winners of this year’s GCCL Championship.

It was an all-timer of a title race this year, with Rossvale Sunday Amateurs chasing Spartans all the way to the last day, and a few twists and turns in the closing weeks of the season. But Spartans got the job done with a last-day win over Vale FC to scoop the title in their first season in the GCCL.

Well done lads!

Congratulations to Dennistoun Saints (Glasgow Saints F.C.) on lifting the GCCL Challenge Shield on Sunday after a thrilling 3-2 victory over Chandlers Sundays FC at Holm Park.

It’s Dennie’s first ever trophy, and also 3rd time lucky for manager Davy Mains after two previous final defeats. We’re sure the people of Dennistoun were celebrating plenty on Sunday night!
