Well done to Sam completing The Dragon Back The Hatching. A 6 day Ultra stage race in the Welsh Mountains. Now for a bit of recovery time before her next challenge.

Thanks for the wonderful testimonial Luke
I first started with Kevin in 2024, just after I ran my first marathon using an online AI running app as my coach and not quite getting the experience I wanted and feeling under prepared on race day, he was recommended to me by a friend who had seen great results.

Fast forward a year with Kevin and I have shaved off a minute on my 5km, PB’d my HM time by 9 minutes and knocked 24 mins off my marathon time in Paris early 2025.

Whilst the AI app was helpful and had its benefits, my running has really improved in a way I didn’t think it would if I hadn’t switched to Kevin (an actual real coach).

Some of the me differences:

Accountability: Being accountable to a seasoned professional coach who has ‘been there and done it himself and who trains other great athletes is infinitely more motivating and reassuring than following an app plan.

Expertise advice: Kevin is available at the drop of a hat for advice, to make changes to my plan and ask specific questions about training or the race itself. Having someone to give you a pep talk and discuss race day tactics based on your training and race conditions is something that was really missing for my first marathon.

Truly tailored running plans: one main difference between Kevin and the app was the ability to seek advice and alter training ti account for niggles and injuries which you will invariably pick up - Kevin has switched in swimming, cycling and cross training to help maintain fitness whilst navigating injuries through my plans. In addition, whilst Kevin coaches a range of athletes at all levels and ages, he still maintains that personal tailored approach that factors in your own journey and ability.

Encouragement and engagement: it’s easy to follow a plan if you are willing to put in the hours, but having that interaction and feedback with an actual coach in your moments of doubt again has been highly motivating to know you are on the right path, allowing you to know when it pick up or slow it down.

I would recommend Kevin to anyone , and whilst apps have benefits and work for many, for me, having an actual coach in your corner has been a game changer.

Ella had quite the week a few weeks ago.
4 months after breaking her collarbone she produced the performance of her life at Ironman Copenhagen with a 1hr 27min PB and snatching a time of 11hrs 11min on a road bike.
This was down to a great years training and not letting the broken collarbone stop her from reaching her goals. Many others would have thrown in the towel and put up the white flag!
With the injury she basically did all her training indoors and could not swim for a period. So to produce this time was special. To top it all, in the same week she graduated from Edinburgh University Business School with her Masters which she also had work on and submit her dissertation when she had the broken collarbone. This is an example of dealing with daily adversities and obstacles and not letting it prevent you from reaching your goals.
Now Ella is targeting her future events as she does not believe on resting on her laurels.

Great Ironman debut by Sam last week at Copenhagen. Sam’s dream was to go Sub 12 and she beat that easily with an 11:21.
All down to her hard work and full commitment to the training programme.

Rachel came to me in January to help her prepare for Ironman Copenhagen. After being out the sport for 8.5 years to start a family she wanted to give her first Ironman a bash. From the outset I could see this girl had talent. A strong running background and sold swimmer and biker. She had never trained with a powermeter and she got quickly set up with a PM for indoors and outdoors. This was a game changer as she could control the power output very easily even in challenging terrain. Last Sunday Rachel smashed out a 10 hr 32 min Ironman debut on a road bike. 4th in age group in a well stacked top European field is impressive. Again there is a similar pattern to the others who were successful last Sunday. She doesn’t miss training sessions.

2 years Joe came to me pretty much a broken man. A hip replacement and a catalogue of other injuries had resulted in a number of DNFs at Ironman 70.3s. His ultimate goal however was to complete a full Ironman. I told Joe this was going to be at least a 2 year project. Year one was spent making his body robust enough with functional and maintenance training to support the real IM training that was to come later in year two. To Joe’s credit he followed the plan religiously. This year I can count the amount of sessions he’s missed on one hand. Last Sunday in Copenhagen Joe successfully completed his first Ironman and there will be more Ironman events to follow now he has experienced that covered red carpet , Joe you smashed it mate , you are a pleasure to work with.

A seasoned campaigner of Ironman events , Chris came onboard last November to prepare for the 2025 season. The goal was simply to perform at his best level and go sub 11 hours at Ironman. That was a big ask as that is 43min fastest than his PB. On Sunday Chris smashed through the 11hr barrier with a 10:50 at IM Copenhagen taking 53min off his PB. You can see from the photos how much fun he had out there. He was in his element.
Now the focus switches to Ultra running where Chris will tackle the Sahara Desert Ultra. Which is two back to back Ultra Marathons in the hostile Sahara in October. Time to get back to training 🏃‍♂️

Great performance by Robbie Innes representing Orkney competing in the Island Games Triathlon. What made this even more impressive is that Robbie completed Ironman Nice 2 weeks prior in blistering heat. Robbie managed to balance his training very well despite working offshore.

Impressive result by Jonny Rae to overcome severe stomach cramps and 34c heat at the World Long Course Champs in Ponevedra Spain. Now the focus turns to the Ironman World Championships in Nice France in September which should be a little bit cooler.

Super impressive performance by Euan Oliver on his first Ironman last weekend at Nice. Euan prepared meticulously well for this event which was ran in 38c of heat. This culminated in a good race experience.
The day after the event Euan and I were exchanging WhatsApp messages on what will be his next Ironman event. There is a lot of great events to choose from.
Which event will next for this special athlete and person ?
Fitness is a journey not a destination.
