Centurion Abid Fareed delivered one of the most entertaining knocks of the season, smashing a brilliant 115 off just 73 balls, including 12 fours and 7 sixes against Milngavie in Saturday's Premier 3 league game. A truly commanding innings.

*Woodfarm vs Alps* : What a win yesterday, absolutely fantastic and truly special!

The match was called off due to pitch conditions, but the young boys still showed up wanting to play. Their effort, commitment, and attitude were outstanding. Hats off to them.

The Alps team also came to the ground even after the cancellation was confirmed. With perfect weather and a pure love for cricket, they stayed on the ground for hours because they wanted to play. That passion was brilliant to see.

Their energy pushed me to make sure we got a game.

Big shout‑out to Parvase Majeed for coming to the ground, checking the pitch, and giving valuable suggestions. He made the game happen.

Huge thanks to Afzal Shaikh and Sumedha Galahitiyawa for picking up Nilanga twice from Motherwell, top effort.

And a massive thanks to Tariq Shabbir Pti Scotland and Aqeel Mahmood for coming to the ground, supporting the boys, and showing real joy after the team win, can’t even explain how good that felt.

Batting: Izaan (16) and Ibrahim (10) set the tone, followed by brilliant knocks from Zayd (62), Ayaan (26), and Nilanga (20). Total: 159/4 in 20 overs.

Bowling: Zayd and Izaan led the attack, backed by strong support from the rest. Sharp fielding sealed a well‑deserved win.

Passion. Teamwork. Heart. That’s the Woodfarm way.

*Backing the 1st team all the way, go make today yours.*

Match Report: Woodfarm vs Mearns Western Cup

WDCU Western Cup Pool C, Round 1
Tuesday, 12 May 2026 — Bellahouston Sports Centre
Result: Mearns Western Cup won by 41 runs

Woodfarm Team started their Western Cup campaign with a tough 41-run defeat against Mearns Western Cup, but there were still plenty of positives to take from the game, especially in the bowling and fielding departments.

Mearns won the toss and chose to bat first, setting a target of 140 after finishing on 139/9 from 20 overs. Woodfarm made a brilliant start with the ball and put Mearns under pressure straight away. Zayd Tariq struck early second ball of first over and bowled a very controlled opening spell, finishing with 4 overs, 20 runs, 1 wicket at an economy of just 5.00.

The standout bowler for Woodfarm was Muhammad Faizan, who produced an excellent spell of fast and accurate bowling. He picked up 4 wickets for only 13 runs in 4 overs, with an outstanding economy rate of 3.25. His spell helped Woodfarm keep control of the innings and stopped Mearns from running away with the game.

The fielding effort was also a big positive. Ibrahim Awan had a fantastic match in the field, taking two catches, a great catch on the second ball of the game in the slips and second one in the deep near the boundary ropes and producing a superb run out from the boundary to remove Mearns’ top scorer Sushant Zanjure, who had made 85 from 59 balls. It was one of the key moments of the innings and showed great awareness, speed and accuracy under pressure.

Izaan Jawad also contributed well in the field with two catches, while Afzal Shaikh bowled a useful late spell, taking 2 wickets for 13 runs in 2 overs. Idhant Agraharam also picked up a wicket as Woodfarm kept taking wickets throughout the innings. Mazar was wicket less.

Chasing 140, Woodfarm finished on 98/8 from 20 overs. The team could not build the partnerships needed to put pressure back on Mearns, but the match showed clear signs of promise. The bowlers created chances, the fielding was sharp, and the team stayed in the contest for long periods.

Key positives for Woodfarm

Muhammad Faizan was excellent with the ball, taking 4/13 in a match-winning quality spell.

Zayd Tariq gave the team a strong start with a tight and disciplined opening spell.

Ibrahim Awan was outstanding in the field with two catches and a brilliant boundary run out.

Afzal Shaikh made a strong impact with two wickets in his short spell.

Izaan Jawad showed safe hands with two catches.

Nisar, Afzal, Allwyn, Ayaan, Omar all worked very hard.
We lost three wickets (Nisar, Ibrahim, Zayd) in a quick succession after that we could not recover.

Although the result did not go Woodfarm’s way, the performance had many encouraging signs. With better batting partnerships and the same energy in the field, the team has a strong base to build on for the next match.
Thank you for Chief Selector (Tariq Shabbir) for visiting us and i also would like to thank Afzal Shaikh captaining this young side.
Training is the key see you all tomorrow at the ground
