Hi all, hope everyone is well.

Today I bring good news😄! As of next Monday (July 13th 2020) we will be aloud to return to training at Hillwood Park. We will train both on a Monday and Wednesday evening from 7:30PM-9:00PM. However due to the current situation training will be 7:45PM-9:15PM, so that we can all enter the training ground safely and allow other teams to exit the park safely also.

Although there are restrictions in place and the players will be informed about the rules that they have to follow whilst training this will include dropping off your child and with this we ask that the car park is only used for coaches and staff.

We have a designated host who will meet the players at the car park entrance and bring them down to the pitch and bring them back up to the designated area after training, this will remain in place until further notice.

We are all excited to resume training and start preparing for the new season ahead as we look to kick on from where we left off before last season was brought to an early stop. This season everyone involved in the team would love to have the opportunity of winning a trophy this season and myself, Paul and Ciaran will do all we can as coaches to make this happen and we know that all the players will be committed to making this happen this season also.

We look forward to seeing everyone back playing the game that we all love and until then everyone take care and stay safe.

C’mon the Hillwood ⚽️💙

Hillwood FC Whites vs Clyde FC.

The boys went up against Clyde FC today in our 4th game in the League and we where searching for our first set of points on the board.

After last weeks disappointing result against Barrhead; myself, Ciaran and Paul all wanted a reaction from the boys and we got one. After the first 10 minutes we constantly played the ball behind the Clyde defence and ran through on goal but only to be told that we where offside in a number of occasions. From the first 10 minutes it was clear to us the coaches, parents and players that our chance to take the lead was very much near by and it did come after a perfectly weighted ball was played through the middle of the clyde defence Lewis ran through and slotted the ball into the back of the net to put Hillwood 1-0 up. As the boys came forward and created more chances we where unable to increase our lead but when Lewis broke away down the left hand side and put an excellent cross into the back post where young josh was able to control the ball and stop in dead before finishing the ball into the bottom corner and cushioning the lead to 2-0 at Half Time.

Into the second half and it did take the boys a good 10/15 minutes to adjust to the tempo of the game again but during that time Clyde where able to create a few good chances and yet again we had Patrick between the sticks to keep the score at 2-0 and then as the boys hit on a quick counter attack when the ball was floated over the top of the oppositions back line it set up Lewis to wrap up the game and grab his second goal of the day as he set himself up for a hat-trick and put the mighty Hillwood 3 goals to the good. Then with 10 minutes to go after a lot of good football Lewis got his hat-trick and he took it in excellent style as he curved the ball into the near post from about 25 yards out and sent us 4-0 up and that is the way the game ended.

Overall today us as coaches we couldn’t be anymore prouder of the boys and when you see what you’ve worked on in training work in a game then you can’t be any happier because you see that your work is benefiting the development of this great team. The boys should also be proud of themselves because Clyde are a good footballing side but our quality showed today and that is now the standard we all want to see week in week out.

Also a mention to young Craig who celebrated his birthday today and came very close to a birthday goal when he struck a long range free kick so happy birthday Craig, that win was for you today.

Final Score: Hillwood FC Whites 4-0 Clyde FC.

Next game: Giffnock North vs Hillwood FC Whites.

Well done again today boys I’m very proud of all of yous

Lanarkshire Harps vs Hillwood FC Whites

A tough game today for the boys as we struggled to create many chances. However the team continued to push and give there all for the full 80 minutes of the match.

The team started brightly in the first 5 minutes and had the opposition where we wanted them but when Owen was brung down after a late challenge, he was forced off before 10 minutes where even played and the games tempo wasn’t as high. The boys created a great chance when debut boy Lewis lobbed the keeper but Jae was unable to turn the ball towards goal. Young Patrick made some outstanding saves to keep the game at 0-0 but when Lanarkshire Harps where awarded a free kick about 25 yards out forced Patrick into another brilliant save but the rest of the team switched off and Lanarkshire Harps has an easy tap in to make it 1-0 bang on the half time whistle. This was most certainly undeserved as the boys had a brilliant first half.

In the second half and the boys couldn’t adjust to the flow of the game and they where punished when Lanarkshire Harps scored an excellent free kick from about 35 yards out as it went in top corner and Patrick had no chance of reaching it and then after that it was a major struggle for the next 10 minutes as Lanarkshire Harps just continued to pile on the pressure and then scored again but after that the boys got their own way for the last 20 minutes and got forward more but at the expense of leaving gaps at the back and Lanarkshire Harps exposed that.

There was yet another debut in the team today for new boy Lewis who had a very good game and will bring something new to the squad and he showed that today as he played a full game.

It was a tough result to take today but the boys yet again are developing into a really good team and they can push for the league title this season if they want it.

Training this week will be as usual from 6:00-7:30 on Monday and Wednesday. Both myself, Paul and Ciaran want the boys to come and work hard again this week as usual.

Overall today could have been better but it wasn’t the worst and still be proud of themselves.

Next game: Castlemilk on the 27th October 2019. Where we go again.

C’mon the Hillwood 💙

Palace Park vs Hillwood FC Whites.

Good game today from the boys, they where up for it right from the start and never gave up throughout the game, even when things didn’t go our way.

The boys got away quickly on a counter attack in the opening few minutes and after the Palace Park keeper pushed the ball away, Matthew was there to lob it over him and into the back of the net to make it 1-0 to the Hillwood. The boys then held Palace Park out for the majority of the first half by keeping there shape and a few outstanding saves from young Patrick kept us in the lead until not long before Half Time Palace Park broke through and scored an equaliser.

Into the second half and after an own goal and a debatable offside goal, Palace Park where in the lead, which certainly wasn’t deserved after all our hardwork. Chances where created from Hillwood in the later stages but sadly nothing came from it and Palace Park came away with all 3 points.

There was a first start for Jae who has brung a lot of flare and talent to the squad and has fitted in superbly but was unfortunate to have to come off at Half Time due to tIghtness in his hamstring. There was also a debut for young Ben who had a stand out performance and will also be a brilliant addition to the squad.

Although we didn’t come away with the win today I can say that I’m truly proud of the boys today and I know that so too are Paul and Ciaran, this group of boys show us what it’s all about to be a coach and that they truly do make it enjoyable for us to take this team forward from here.

Training this week will be on Monday and Wednesday with both sessions lasting from 6:00 - 7:30 pm as we prepare to take on Lanarkshire Harps in our next game.

The boys can keep there heads held high after today and come to training tomorrow with the right attitude and ready to work hard. Again well done today to every single of the players, yous should be proud of yourselves.

Excellent Performance by the boys today on an extremely Hot day Credit to both teams who put on a good performance.

Very pleasing from Hillwood point of view performance was controlled and confident and after 1st goal went in from a fantastic free kick from ben there was no doubt about where points where headed as Hillwood team controlled the majority of game creating really good chances and converting 5 With an added bonus of a good clean sheet for Patrick and the defence Well done team.
