On our Parkinson’s group walk yesterday morning near to South Stainley.

This group is growing in number, as walking with poles has been shown to help those with mild symptoms of Parkinson’s.

Encouraging our members to plant the poles in a particular way whilst applying force and utilising a wider range of movement, coupled with the cognitive challenge of co-ordinating the activity, all help to promote balance, better posture, and confidence. We’ve definitely noticed improvements over time in these areas - as have the partners of those with Parkinson’s who join them on the walks. Great to see such determination having an observable effect.
