As part of this year's Glasgow Blythswood Festival which runs from Friday 1st May to Sunday 17th May there are a range of events which will be of interest to many. The Festival website is https://glasgowblythswoodfestival.co.uk/ In particular, under the heading of Talks, there are two talks being hosted by, and in, Kimpton Blythswood Square Hotel, 11 Blythswood Square, Glasgow G2 4AD, which, as you will know, was remodelled as the splendid Royal Scottish Automobile Club in 1926 by renowned architect James Miller.

Both talks, are open to the public, and without charge, taking place on Saturday 9th May in the hotel's Monte Carlo Room, adjacent to the Rally Bar. The speaker on both occasions is Dr Nina Baker, a former deacon at the Trades House of Glasgow. She is an engineer by profession, and now a historian of women in engineering. The morning talk starts at 11am and is titled.... 'Gang Warily' : the Royal Scottish Automobile Club's Unique Place in British Motoring History

The afternoon talk starts at 3pm and is titled ... 'Clubbable Sisters' : a history of women's motoring societies

More details are in the Festival website, and how to reserve a space.

Spring Run – Three Lochs Classic and Spring Run 14/04/2026

A great entry of 64 cars and crews headed to the Moulsdale Foundation in Bishopbriggs last Sunday for the start of this year’s Spring Run.

Those who weren’t tempted by a warming coffee and a bacon roll were able to start looking around the fabulous collection of cars, motorbikes and memorabilia at the venue before heading off. Under mixed skies and in a chill wind, participants initially headed east towards Kilsyth before turning northwards on the infamous Tak-Ma-Doon Road. Water was cascading over the dam at the Carron Valley Reservoir as crews continued towards Fintry, Kippen, Doune and a very busy Callander before turning for home down the driver-favourite Duke’s Pass to Aberfoyle. With the roads getting busier, the route turned off the A81 to Buchlyvie before turning south again to take in Balfron, Killearn, Strathblane and Torrance on the way back to Bishopbriggs.

There was more time to admire the collection while the judging took place before everyone headed upstairs for the awards presentation.

Our thanks to the whole team at the Moulsdale Foundation for looking after us. The Foundation and companies owned and controlled by founder David Moulsdale support philanthropic endeavours, donating to worthwhile causes in the UK and internationally. https://moulsdalefoundation.org/

The 2026 Spring Run will take place on Sunday 12 April and be hosted this year by the Moulsdale Foundation where the run will start and finish. We thank them for their support.

The event is open to Veteran, Vintage, Classic and Modern cars. To encourage cars in the Veteran and Vintage classes, we are again offering a free entry and a dedicated route, being less of a challenge to the older cars. Following the run, entrants will be able to visit the magnificent collection of cars and motorcycles on display at the Moulsdale Foundation.

The regulations and entry form will be available towards the end of February and posted on the RSAC Motorsport website www.rsacmotorsport.com .

We are immensely proud to have been awarded the Coogie Urquhart Quaiche for running the best event in the 2025 Scottish Rally Championship.

RSAC Scottish Rally Awarded the Coogie Urquhart Quaich

Simply the best!
At the Asset Alliance Group Scottish Rally Championship Awards held in Glasgow last weekend, the Scottish Rally was awarded the Coogie Urquhart Quaich for 2025. This is presented to the organising team of the best event in the Championship as judged by the Championship Management Committee and the registered competitors.

Andrew Pemberton, Chairman of RSAC Motorsport Limited, said ‘we are absolutely blown away that all the hard work put in to make the event a success has been recognised. This is only the second time that the rally has been presented with the award for best event (previously known as the Chairman’s Cup). This is not just for the organising team but for every marshal and official that assisted on the event – without you there would be no rally – and no award’.

Jonathan Lord, Clerk of the Course went on to thank not only the Competitors who voted for the event, but also the key stakeholders who make it all possible – Dumfries & Galloway Council who have supported the event for the last 28 years, Forestry and Land Scotland who we work closely with to provide the stages and Iain Wilson and his team at Jas P Wilson Forest Machines for providing their facilities for Rally Control and the Service Area.

Planning for the 2026 event, the 80th running of the event, is already underway and we look forward to welcoming you all to Dalbeattie on Saturday 18 July.

Thank you one and all

The Organising Team
