UPDATED CLASS SCHEDULE
(starting Monday 26th April 2021)

We are planning to re-open our indoor Karate classes in the Scout Hall (66 Ripon Drive, Kelvindale) for members aged 17 years and under from Monday 26th April 2021.

We hope that members aged 18 years and above will be able to return to indoor classes from Monday 17th May 2021; in the meantime members aged 18 years and above will have to continue to join in the classes via ZOOM.

Outlined below is the revised class schedule to cover this period.

14/03/2021

UPDATED ONLINE CLASS SCHEDULE
(starting Monday 15th March 2021)

As Primary Schools will be fully re-opening from Monday 15th March, we have made a few changes to our online class schedule for our Junior members (P1 - P7).

The Junior classes held on a Monday and Friday afternoon have been cancelled. Instead, we will run online Junior Classes on a Monday and Wednesday evening (6.00 - 6.55pm). Juniors who attended the Friday afternoon class are welcome to join in our online Karate class on a Friday evening (6.30 - 7.30pm); this class is suitable for members of all ages and for families.

We will hopefully be able to re-start our indoor classes in Scout Hall soon. Until then all classes will be held online. Once the weather improves and the lighter nights are here, we will look at the possibly running some outdoor classes if we are not able to return to the Scout hall.

Over the last few weeks, I have been working in partnership with colleagues from Active Schools Glasgow to produce short tutorial videos that can be used by pupils, schools, parents and carers. The videos have been produced to promote Karate and physical activity during times when the COVID-19 restrictions mean that regular Active Schools sessions are not being held in schools. Click on the link below to access the videos. More videos will be added over the next few weeks.

NEW ONLINE CLASS SCHEDULE (FROM 6TH JANUARY 2021)

Due to the COVID-19 Lockdown restrictions across mainland Scotland, we are not able to run any indoor classes. All classes will instead be delivered online via ZOOM.

Outlined below is the revised schedule of our ONLINE classes that will run from 6th January 2021. The schedule has been drawn up to consider the outcome of the recent online poll and will be regularly reviewed based on attendance, feedback, etc.

Please note that all ZOOM links and information have been updated for 2021. Please contact us for details.

Hi

I hope that you are all well and have had a good New Year.

I understand that the First Minister has recalled the Scottish Parliament for a session tomorrow to update them on the latest COVID-19 information, etc.

The publication of the new class schedule (due to start on Wednesday 6th January) will be delayed until after the FM's statement to Parliament tomorrow. This will allow us to incorporate any updated information / restrictions into the schedule and our planning for re-opening the Kugatsu Karate-Do in 2021.

COVID-19 UPDATE (20TH DECEMBER 2020)

The club is now closed for our annual break over the Christmas & New Year period. We had originally planned (hoped) to re-open our indoor classes on Wednesday 6th January 2021. However due to the Scottish Government announcement yesterday that mainland Scotland will enter Tier 4 on 26th December for a period of at least 3 weeks, we will not be able to re-open with classes in the Scout Hall on this date.

Instead, classes will resume ONLINE ONLY (via ZOOM) on Wednesday 6th January 2021 and will continue online until we come out of Tier 4. (The Online Class Schedule will be published nearer the time.)

Hopefully, following the 3-week period in Tier 4 we will move to a lower tier and be able to return to running indoor classes. We will keep you updated as more information from the Scottish Government and the Scottish Karate Governing Body becomes available.

Stay Safe and we hope you all have a good time over the Christmas and New Year period.

COVID-19 UPDATE (17TH NOVEMBER 2020)

The Scottish Government have announced that Glasgow will enter Tier 4 from 6.00pm on Friday 20th November 2020. Unfortunately, this means that there will be no indoor Karate classes for any age whilst we remain in Tier 4. The Scottish Government have indicated that the Tier 4 restrictions will be in place until 11th December 2020.

The move to Tier 4 (and the requirement to close our indoor classes) is extremely disappointing. We will continue to do everything we can to keep our students safe and to adhere to all the measures the Scottish Karate Governing Body (SKGB) and the Scottish Government have put in place.

Our classes for under 18s in the Scout Hall on Wednesday (18th November) will go ahead as planned. Unfortunately, the indoor classes scheduled for Friday and Saturday (20th & 21st November) are cancelled.

We would normally close the club for the Christmas and New Year period around the 19th December. As a result, we have decided that all our indoor classes will remain closed until January 2021; even if the Scottish Government permits the reopening of indoor classes after 11th December.

We plan to reopen our indoor classes in the Scout Hall from Wednesday 6th January 2021; subject of course to the approval of the SKGB and the Scottish Government (i.e. Glasgow is in Tier 3 or lower).

From Friday 20th November until Friday 18th December 2020, we will be holding all Karate classes online via ZOOM. A schedule of ZOOM classes will be published and circulated shortly.

As you know, we had gradings scheduled for early December. It is my intention to hold gradings for all eligible members on Saturday 19th December 2020 either via ZOOM or in the Scout Hall (assuming we are no longer in Tier 4). Details will be confirmed as soon as possible.

Thank you for all your support and patience during this time, it is greatly appreciated. I am looking forward to our classes returning to something close to ‘normal’ soon. I will keep you updated with any developments as they arise.

We will continue to do everything we can to ensure that there is still a Karate Club to come back to in 2021.

Stay Safe and I hope to see you all on ZOOM.
