Update! A time of change...
Regular students will already know but I'm sharing this to our wider yoga community. Essence Yoga Room will be closing this week. A few months ago, after almost 20 years teaching yoga in Glenrothes, I (Maggie) got the calling to teach closer to home.
My wonderful family have helped me out with this desire by extending a hut in our garden for me to use as a dedicated Garden Studio. It's almost complete and from January my classes will be held in the Garden Studio in Falkland Estate.
It's hard to be leaving the amazing students I've had the joy of sharing yoga with over the years and hope that I can tempt you along to some of the future events that are brewing.
Thanks to all who have supported Essence Yoga Room, including Ingrid of Petals and Aum who has shared the space with me, and her students. To keep up with Ingid's future offerings check out her website at www.petalsandaum,com
If you would like to hear about my Garden Studio offerings check my website www.maggiemckeen.com or my FaceBook page https://www.facebook.com/maggiemckeenyoga
Wishing you all my best wishes on your own yoga journey...
Om Shanti
Maggie

Do you look at others when practising yoga and wishing you could look like them in a tricky pose? Do you find it difficult to let go of material possessions? 🧐
The last yama, aparigraha, is often translated as non-greed or non-attachment. Living life in the present moment, not thinking about what an action brings us. Being happy with what we have.
Practising this on the mat might look like being present within yourself and not paying attention to others (except the teacher 🙃) and off the mat this can take many forms. Getting rid of stuff, letting go of the need for attention from a friend, a family member, or partner. Or we can dive a little deeper...
.. When we experience negative feelings, we have a choice. To let go of them or to hold on to them. When we attach ourselves to those feelings, often suffering persists. Anxiety, stress, and even loneliness can be a result of holding on to these emotions. 😔
Letting go of those can lead to inner peace, harmony, and contentment. It helps us focus on the present moment and appreciate what we have, there and then. Embracing aparigraha - as most things - takes practise. Releasing is easier said than done and there are different ways to start bringing this into your life. Journaling, meditation, gratitude practice are some of those. 🥰✨🙏
Another practice, which we LOVE, is pranayama. Working with the breath and prana. Ingrid offers a free and bespoke breathing session to help you to move through difficult feelings. 💖
