MATCH REPORT ⚽️

On Saturday morning, the Strollers Under 14s girls made the short trip to Inverkeithing to face Swift Stars on what was a cracking summer Saturday morning for a game of football. ☀️⚽️

It was an early kick-off and the girls got off to an absolute flyer! They really started on the front foot and scored a great opening goal through the impressive Ruby Baker. The lead was doubled a couple of minutes later when Kayleigh Bayne grabbed her first goal for the club, scoring a brilliant long-range effort from outside the box.

The girls were now well in their stride, and the constant threat of Ruby down the right wing was causing Swift Stars all kinds of trouble. Erin Conway grabbed the team’s third and her first of the day when she smashed home from close range, giving the keeper no chance.

Sophie Millar then grabbed a fourth when she tapped in from close range after more great play down the right. This was turning into a really dominant performance from the girls, with the midfield trio of Ava, Sophie and Liandra completely controlling the game.

The girls grabbed another two before half-time. Miley Shearer got herself a great goal when she got on the end of another Ruby Baker cross, before Erin grabbed her second of the game just before the half-time whistle to round off a superb first half of attacking, exciting football from the Strollers.

The second half started in exactly the same way as the first, when Ruby grabbed her second of the game right after kick-off with another classy finish across the keeper.

Summer Imrie then got herself a goal that her battling performance deserved when she bundled the ball over the line, taking everything — including the post — with her! 😂

The girls kept up a really high tempo of play, which was very pleasing to see considering the warm sunshine. It showed the real fitness within the squad. 💪☀️

Erin Conway then grabbed her hat-trick when she tapped in a rebound from Liandra’s shot. Not to be outdone, Ruby then grabbed her hat-trick with yet another great finish, giving the keeper no chance.

Our scoring was rounded off when Summer smashed the ball in from the corner of the box after a lovely turn to create space. Swift Stars managed to grab a late consolation goal, and credit to them for keeping going right until the final whistle.

Liandra Hamill ⭐

Liandra was superb in midfield today. She broke up every move Swift Stars tried to make and constantly played the ball out to our wingers, setting up each attack brilliantly. Her passing today was first class and she controlled the midfield really well.

Emily Moody ⭐

Emily has really been putting the effort in at training recently and has been displaying a fantastic attitude. She was superb today in defence and not one person got past her. Whenever Emily won the ball, she lifted her head and found excellent passes out from the back. A fantastic performance!

A really fantastic performance from the girls today, with great performances all over the pitch.

Miley and Kayleigh were brilliant at the back, Ava and Ruby were working so well together in midfield, while Erin looked back to her best up front with a proper striker’s hat-trick.

It was extremely difficult to pick just two Players of the Day and, to be honest, it could have been the whole team!

Another big positive from today’s game was that we were able to give all the girls plenty of playing time, which will really benefit them going forward.

It really feels like this team is starting to move in the right direction, and if the girls keep up the hard work in training, it will only get better!

A huge well done to every single girl today — you should all be extremely proud of yourselves!

MATCH REPORT

On a beautiful summer Saturday morning, the Strollers Under 14s welcomed Raith Rovers to a packed-out Overstenton for a Lucy Hope League game. It’s always an intense and competitive game between these two sides, and today was no different!

After a pre-match pep talk from the manager, Strollers really started the game on the front foot and the girls got off to a flyer.

Some great link-up play in midfield between Sophie and Ava allowed Ava to play a brilliant through ball to Ruby Baker on the right wing. Ruby burst away from the Raith defence, showing lightning pace, and found herself clear through on goal. She then showed great composure to calmly place the ball low past the oncoming keeper to give Strollers the perfect start.

The opening goal seemed to kick Raith into action and they went on to have a pretty dominant 20-minute spell. They managed to grab an equaliser before going on to take the lead with a well-struck long-range effort which gave Lacey in the Strollers goal no chance.

The first half became increasingly tense, with Strollers creating a couple of chances through some good high pressing, but unfortunately the girls couldn’t quite find the equaliser.

The second half began a little cagey, with both teams struggling to show composure on the ball, and the opening 5–10 minutes were somewhat scrappy.

However, things soon picked up and Strollers really started to pile the pressure on. Raith dropped into a back five and seemed happy to protect their narrow lead while trying to hit us on the counter-attack, setting up a really tense, end-to-end second half.

Strollers won several corners that we just couldn’t convert, while Ruby was having a fantastic performance out on the right wing. She was delivering some superb early crosses into the box, but somehow we just couldn’t get the final shot away that the performance deserved.

With 10 minutes remaining, Strollers went incredibly close when Ruby delivered a great ball to the back post for Erin Conway, but she just couldn’t quite wrap her left leg around the ball. Much to everyone’s agony on the sidelines, another fantastic move had come so close to producing the equaliser!

In the end, this result was really hard luck on the girls.

Ruby Baker ⚽️
A great performance from Ruby, who was a constant threat down the right side. She grabbed a great goal, was full of running and delivered some fantastic crosses into the box. I’m sure once she settles into the squad and the girls get used to how she plays, she is going to become a great addition to the team!

This was Kayleigh’s debut for the team and she was absolutely solid at the back. No one got past her and she defended the back line so well. She also played some great balls out from the back and is another player who is only going to get better as she settles into the squad.

A really tough one for the girls to take today, as they deserved at least a point out of the game. However, that was a massive improvement in performance and one that the girls should be really proud of.

Raith are unbeaten so far this season and they knew they were well in a game today. There are therefore lots of positives for us to take from the match.

Good luck to Raith Rovers for the rest of the season — a fantastic, well-organised team.
