Away v methilhill strollers

After drawing at home earlier in the season where the ball just wouldn't go In the net for us we went confident of a good result.

We find ourselfs 1 down after a failed clearance in in the box but the boys didn't let it get to them and kept playing there football, side to side trying to find the spaces to get back into the game. It comes from s carter free kick. Then another carter free kick puts us 2-1 up. After this we were never really troubled and the boys played some really good football today. Full of confidence and clinical infront of goal. An 8-1 away win at ft if critical we should have scored more but the last 10 mins we were rushing. Things and 1 of they games they all want to score.

A good confidence booster going into a tough away trip to east fife nxt sun who sit top. And raith away the week later in quarter of fife.

Asked the boys for a much improved performance from the raith game. Find ourselfs 1 down after missing a good few chances. We go in 2-1 up at ht although missed chances could have put the gane to bed 1st half.

2nd half didn't really get going and end up 3-2 down . This sprung us into life but we were missing chance after chance . Eventually from s corner in the dying minutes and big ryan sent forward from goals we get the deserved equaliser. From kai at the back post. A game in which we feel should have won and need to start taking the missed chances .

1/2/26 raith away

A tough game for the boys as aslways at starks park, a game where we were outplayed ,out worked and the boys chucked it.

Going down 2-0 we get back in the game with a good goal from kayden Christie to make it 2-1 after 25 mins . Unfortunately raith score another 2 quick goals and the heads dropped. Going In 5-1 down at ht. Asked the boys to go back out and show fight and keep it tight 2md half.

Unfortunately after another fine goal that we cut open there defence to get to 5-2 . Raith score a couple more and the boys stopped playing. Resulting in raith scoring for fun .

A very bad day at the office. we can't let our heads go and let a quality side like raith do what they want without a fight .

We will need to b far better as a team when and we will be when we go back down in the quarter of fife cup in a few weeks.

Glens 3 v 1 Kelty hearts

Today we hosted Kelty at warout in the boys first game back since mid Dec due to the holidays and the last 2 weeks being postponed due to weather.

We thought we would be a bit rusty and up against it due to this and with captain logan missing and cammy suspended , and a few boys carrying knocks we knew we'd be In a game today. Kelty would b coming full of confidence after a good result last weekend v bayside.

Kelty started well and were keeping the ball playing some nice football, although we couldn't really get a hold of the ball, we always looked dangerous on the break . Chances at both ends missed and a tight game off football. We make a decision to switch kai from the right wing role to lo left and within mins ,kai beats his man and drives into the box with a nice cut back across goal that Baillie finishes . 1-0

Ryan makes a couple of good saves to keep us ahead and the half finishes 1-0

Ht we make a couple of changes, zac going into the cm role for reece who worked his socks off starting In there today to give us fresh legs and rylie going onto the right for James who was back playing his first game for us since re joining the team on Tuesday night. Kelty again we're keeping the ball but we always looked like we would score on the break with every transition . We were telling kai to cut in from the left and get his shots away and he does just that after beating 2 men on the edge of box he fires it in over the keeper 2-0

This gave us a bit breathing space and with a 2 goal cushion we were pretty confident of taking the 3 points now. With 20 to play.

But with the heavy pitch and boys not playing in 6 weeks ,we started to look tired . We were making the simple stuff look hard and Kelty get a goal back ,game on . Again chances at both ends and as a team we were defending on the edge of our box and you could say hanging on. We then break and rylies brought down by the keeper pen with 3 min to go. Rylie himself steps up ,the keeper saves but he's quick and knocks the rebound into the net for his 1st glens goal in only his second substitute appearance. Game over.

On the whole we can play much better and have done in the past and lost . We defender we'll as a team and fought to make sure of the 3 points.

Alot of solid performance today but man of match goes to lewis samson . Stepped in at left back for the missing logan and was solid defensively and also pushing. The team up the park attacking down the left until the final whiste . Another 3 points on the board and we look forward to an away trip to raith rovers nxt sun

Bayside 1 v 2 glens

A tough game today where we didn't really get going, un like the team but created very little clear cut chances. Before the game we told the boys all that mattered today was 3 points and to end the year on a high going into the break.

A scrappy game with bayside taking the lead after a long throw into the box wasn't dealt with and dropped to there player a few yards out to put it away. We created a few half chances but never looked liked scoring , only ryan keeping us in the game tipping a free kick into the bar. 1- 0 ht

At ht we changed to 3 up front and began to get a bit more control of the game without creating much. Bayside go 1 v1 and again ryan keeps us in it. Credit to the boys as they kept going and get back in the game with a pass across the box that cater puts into an empty net. It was a battle out there and on another day or another ref we might have seen a few red cards dished out to both teams. With 5 mins to go a ball breaks at the edge of the.box and kayden Christie slots a first time shot into the bottom corner. After the goal the boys managed the game well and seen out the play in baysidea corner.

Sometimes in football you need to win ugly and that's exactly what today was but it's another 3 points on the board and that's all that matters.

Fife cup

Glens 12 v 2 dulloch

Glens hosted dulloch in the fife cup Sunday. Another wet horrible day with a few pitch inspections and work was required to get the game on .

1st half glens played most of the game in the dulloch half but found themselves going behind from a dulloch break and winning a corner ,scoring from it. We got level through kaydon Christie to then get caught on break again and another cross Into box resulted in dulloch going 2-1 up.

The boys kept playing there game and got level through kai . 2-2.

After this it was a dominant display and the boys played some great football on a tough pitch. Playing the 2nd half in the dulloch half and creating chances after chance scoring alot of goals and also missing a good 4/5 chances

All in a good day and carried on performance from the 2nd half v Kinross the week before.

We look forward to travelling to play bayside on Sunday in our last game of the year , where the boys will be looking to continue there great form this year and finish the year on a high full of confidence .

Glens 5 v 1 Kinross

Today we were at home to Kinross at a muddy wet warout . We started the game well creating a few chances without converting after about 10 mins Kinross took control of the game and go 1 up .

We changed to a back 3 today and it took the boys a bit to get used to it . But after 30 min we looked more comfortable and get level, a great run from logan from zaks through ball seen the keeper run out take logan and the ball at the edge of box .but the ball fell to Carter who just had to pass into an empty net . 1-1 . The collision seen us lose logan as he took a sore 1 to b replaced by kaydon who had a point to prove after starting on the bench today. Within 5 mins we go 2-1 up ,carter finds himself out on the left off the box , goes by the defender and the sidelines were screaming shoot, but he cuts back goes by the defender again and fires a good strike into the bottom corner. We won't talk about the celebration 🤦🤣.
We go in 2-1 at ht

We asked the boys to step it up and go get another quick goal to kill the game . We had most of the ball but struggled to find a finish . With about 20 min to play we get the 3rd ,a great corner from the left sees andy get his head to it and put us 3-1 up to settle the nerves. Within 5 mins we get another corner and this time from the right drops at the back post and Kinross fail to clear . And cammy manages to bundle the ball over the line , 4-1. We now have full control of the game and really should have scored more. Thyler runs through 3 boys and finds himself 1v1 with the keeper, he just needs to hit it to a side but unfortunately doesn't connect right and goes straight to keeper. Kai then fires over from 2 yards out from a good free kick. And then a cut back to maxy with near enough an open goal to aim unfortunately bobbles just as he goes to hit it and keeper gets over to save. We eventually get the 5th , logan back on for the last 20 min goes 1 v1 with the keeper who saves his shot but the rebound goes up in the air and he heads home . Game over.

Once the boys settled into the new formation we looked comfortable and probably should have won by alot more today. Some good performances today . Reece stepping in goals for the suspended ryan ,max, thyler and andy solid at the back ,alan good debut but man of match goes to andy . Solid In defence and scoring the vital 3rd to give us breathing space.

Always giving 110 percent, turning up week after week through the good and bad times over the years. Always stood by his team and rallied the boys through bad times. Regional cup last 16

St Andrews 4 v 1 glens

Today we travelled to play St Andrews away in tne cup , boys were confident after beating them 3-1 only a few weeks ago in the league.

We started well and go 1 up in first 10 min through logan . There keeper pullls of a good double save from Baillie that would have seen as 2 up but St Andrews played well,moving the ball and keeping it well. We were under pressure for the last 20 min of tne first half and a cross ball found there plsyer in the box, who scores to equalise from a free header.

At ht we asked the boys if they wanted to win this game as we were second to every ball and too many boys off it today.

2nd half started much like the first. We didn't create much clear cut chances and when we did the finishing was poor or the wrong decision made in final 3rd. We then get big ryan booked after giving away a penalty . They convert to go 2 -1 up
Within a min another penalty for St Andrews, cracking pen top corner and a mountain to climb 3-1.

This seemed to rattle the boys and we started to play. We gambled with a 424 but it was short lived after ryan gets his 2nd booking for descent. A man down 2 goals down and a player again having to go in goals. But we pushed and pushed for the nxt goal with 20 mins to play,we felt if could get tne nxt goal we could come back. But poor finishing and wasteful in the final 3rd didn't happen for us today. St Andrews then get a soft free kick on edge box and they score direct from it. 4-1

Overall disappointed to be out the cup , a poor team performance. 4 goals lost although only 1 from open play. Another suspension to deal with and no keeper again going into nxt week.

Credit to St Andrews they wanted it more today. Won there battles all over the park and were first to every ball. We wish them all the best in the nxt round

Glens 5 v 2 dulloch

Today we welcomed dulloch to warout for a league game at a very wet warout. The game was touch and go if would b allowed to go ahead , but after Paul and Matt spent an hour this morning with the help of 6 bags sand and a fork ,the ref was happy that the pitch was playable.

After hosting dulloch Earlier in the season ,in the league cup group stages and a taking a defeat with a man sent off on half time our keeper suspended and 4 key players missing ,we desperately wanted the game on. To right a wrong today.

The boys came out flying and again Missed chance after chance in the first 20 mins. If it had been 6-0 in the that time, nobody would have complained. As always in football missed chances come back to bite you ,and dulloch went ahead from a corner ,the boys curled the ball right into the net at the front post. the 0-1. Again we control the game and create more good chances but failing to put the ball in the net . Dulloch go 2 up with a ball right over the top not dealt with and the striker puts into the net. glens could had been 10 up by this point but we faced an uphill task of facing 2 goals down.

We felt confident on the sidelines still as we were controlling the game and creating really good chances. We told the boys to keep playing as they were and a goal would come. But we needed the nxt 1. After another 4 or 5 missed chances dulloch play a ball over the top again and go 1 v1 with ryan who pulls off a very important save to stop us going 3 down.

Soon after who else but the captain ,logan gets us back in the game 2-1. Quickly added to by Baillie 2-2. This gave the boys confidence and we go ahead when Baillie gets his 2nd of the day. Ht 3-2 glens ,happy to be ahead but the game should have been over by then.

At ht we told the boys to keep playing as they were and the nxt goal was massive today. 2nd half ended up a bit scrappy due to the pitch condition and the boys tiring on the heavy park.

With only a 1 goal lead dulloch we're still in it and we felt we needed another goal to win today. Up pops kai to settle the nerves 4-2 glens.

This allowed us to make changes and give boys a rest for the hard shifts put in. We decided to go 343 and push for more goals, after creating a few chances, up pops maxy with his 2nd goal for the team in his 3 substitute appearances to date.

Overall a very good performance today ,1st half we were excellent and probably should have scored alot more . 2md half standards dropped due to the conditions .but another 3 points on the board .

Scottish cup

Glens 1 v 2 carluke

Today we welcomed carluke to warout in the Scottish cup. We were always going to be up against it today after ryan being sent of last week and suspended for game , meaning reece stepping in to play in goals, credit to reece for stepping up and volunteering to take the gloves today .

With another few boys missing we told the boys to go out and enjoy the game. And what will be will be . We started with a 541 today to protect the keeper and suss the opposition. Out . Quickly moving to a 442 . A pretty even game with chances both ends but the ball wouldn't go.in either net, carluke then take the lead with a defensive mistake mud way through the half. Again we create chances and really should have scored a few of our own. But we go in 1 down at the break.

5 min after the restart carluke get there keeper sent off for dissent. And while going off punches Baillie and the ref had to get control of the game with carluke parent on the park the lot.

After a 5 min break and calm restored the game was allowed to continue. We were forced into taking Baillie off as was on a yellow card and his head had went being with being punched. we couldn't afford to get a red ourself.

Again we create chances but the final pass just wasn't happening and the ball wouldn't drop in the box. We then fail to clear the box under no pressure and the ball drops to a carluke player who punishes us and put them 2-0 up.

With 10 mins plus injury time to play we had nothing to lose and pushed 4 up front to try get back in the game, 5 min after this Thyler moved up top from cb gets our goal and with 8 mins of injury time we felt the game was there to win still.
We pushed and pushed with 3/4 good chances but it just wasn't to be today .

A hard fought game today with chances at both ends and credit to the boys for the way they applied themselfs today , the way they played and pushed to the end as a team against a good well organised team.

Carluke are top of there league, score goals and conced few . Regional cup winners last year and the boys have to be proud of the way they played today with key players missing. Just wasn't to be today .

We can now get boys back and concentrate on pushing up the league and getting into the quarters of the fife and regional cups this month with a last 16 tie in the regional v St Andrews and a last 16 tie v dulloch yellow in the fife to come

Glens 3 v 1 St Andrews

Today we hosted St Andrews, a team we have never faced before and knew nothing about, but we were confident of a result due to recent performance and results.

The boys tried to play football but the conditions weren't the best and the football on display matched the weather today. A scrappy 1st half with the St Andrews keeper making a few good saves and ryan not having to do much at the other end .

We go ahead after the keeper makes a good save from kais shot but can only push the ball into the path of logan who knocks into the net. 1 - 0 . The boys continued to try get the ball down and play but nothing was coming off in the final 3rd. St Andrews then get level with a wonder strike from long range that Ryan gets a hand 2 but can't keep out. 1-1 ht

Ht ,a sub made and a change of formation seen max put upfront from cb and within 5 mins of the restart who else but max goes by a player at edge of box and strikes a worldy of his own to put us 2-1 up. A scrappy game after that with neither team creating much clear cut chances. A load of strange bookings handed out for both teams and we felt it was only a matter of time someone was sent off today from either side. On 70 min it happens big ryan gets his 2nd yellow of the game. Down to 10 with 20 to go, reece stepping up to go in goals. Another day ,another ref and I don't think ryan gets any yellow card .

The sending off didn't really effect our approach the last 20 min.as we were playing 3 up.so just meant we went to 2 up and everything else stayed as was. We told the boys they need to dig in and see the game out . And they done that excellently.
You wouldn't tell we had a man less and kai pops up with our 3rd to seal the game with around 8 min to go.

Football wise not pretty but you need to win ugly sometimes and today the boys fought and found a way to take the 3 points.
