👨🏫 About Table Tennis Fun Club ‘T.T.F.C.’ Founder and over 70’s Player: Peter Aird
With over twenty years of competitive table tennis experience, Peter now coaches club-level players aged 50 and above, focusing on tackling specific challenges and enhancing tactical skills. Peter’s enthusiasm for table tennis was sparked at age 12 at Preston Youth Club in Glenrothes, Fife, Scotland, and continued throughout his studies, maritime career, and time working in the oil industry. At 49, he returned to the sport with renewed dedication, also drawing on his extensive background in football, rugby, and judo. Since 2012, Peter has played in first division and premier leagues in Aberdeen, Edinburgh, and Dundee, as well as regional and national veteran competitions through his fifties and sixties. His achievements include representing Scotland in annual UK Six Nations tournaments held in Wales, Ireland, Scotland, and the Isle of Man, along with participation in the World Veterans Championships in New Zealand (Auckland), Spain (Alicante), the USA (Las Vegas), Italy (Rome), and European Veterans Championships hosted in Germany, Finland, Norway, Italy, Hungary, and Spain. As a certified Level 1 Table Tennis Scotland coach, Peter conducts weekly individual and group training sessions at local clubs and aims to complete his Level 2 coaching qualification by 2026. He remains dedicated to sharing his ongoing growth to inspire senior players at every skill level to elevate their game. Peter is eager to assist anyone interested in “Playing to Learn and Learning to Play” during any part of their table tennis journey.
