The view and the result made it worth getting wet!

Our County level competitions start in earnest next week with home matches on Weds 6 May and Fri 8 May both starting at 1800. The players would welcome a crowd and some support so why not pop along to watch quality bowls with a drink and may be a pizza, what’s not to like.
A busy day today with both cutting the green and a coaching event at the same time. Thanks to the Tallis Amos Group for getting the Allett mower back and working.

Although our matches over the Bank Holiday weekend are all away please consider supporting the Ale Festival.
In exactly 2 weeks time we will be opening our annual ale festival!! Lots of planning has taken place place behind the scenes with quality bands secured many months ago, the ales however are still being finalised to ensure they are as fresh as possible over the weekend, here’s your chance to have your say….. are there any ales or breweries you would like to see featured, if so tag them in the comments and we will do our best!!!

The new Churchdown Village Bowls Clubs celebrated their 5th birthday and opened its green for the 2026 season on Saturday 11 Apr. We had over 46 players on the green and many more members supporting from the sidelines, many thanks to all who came. After the bowls event we had a small celebration in the main club.
We would like to issue some thank yous to :
Tesco Churchdown, Asda Cheltenham, Morrisons Gloucester for donations to enable us to provide the buffet. Laithwaites and Churchdown Club for kind donations of fizz. Not forgetting Mike for preparing the buffet.
If you would like to have a go at one of the most accessible sports going why not pop along to our green on a Tuesday or Friday evening for 1800 where we would be able to offer you full advice and even a go. Full details are on our website https://churchdownvillagebowls.com/index.html
Last bit of actual on the green work prior to us opening on Saturday 11 April at 1400. All are welcome to pop along and see why we are the Best Kept Secret in the Village. Thanks to our local Vale of Gloucester GreenThumb for the loan of some kit for the top dressing of the green edges.

Many thanks to everyone who stopped to speak to us at our recruitment stand today in Churchdown Tescos. Our strap line of The Best Kept Secret in the Village still stands as many did not know the village actually had its own bowling green. We do it all again on Saturday 4 April 1000-1200.
Our new season opens at home on Saturday 11 Apr @ 1400 with a social bowl with tea, cakes and just may be an ale or two.
