Hi everyone, my name is Kelly and I'm stepping up to support Lee and the team at RollerXpress while they take a break to calm, reset and refocus on the next steps for the community roller disco project.
Like many skaters, we all have a story and mine is no different from many I have heard. As I feel so strongly and passionate about community cohesion and social justice, this is why I'm stepping up to offer RollerXpress my support...
As a mum to two beautiful kids - one autistic and one disabled - finding places where my children can just be themselves without judgement is so rare. RollerXpress wasn't just a roller disco to us; it was our safe haven. It was the one place my kids felt completely accepted, happy, and free.
Now, the Peel Management team has forced RollerXpress to close its doors for good, and I am utterly heartbroken.
Learning from Lee what went on behind closed doors has felt like a massive kick in the teeth:
Driven out with 30 days' notice: Finding a new venue takes at least 3 months, yet Centre Manager Owen Acland served a 30-day notice - going back on written assurances of a 6-month heads-up and giving the team zero time to relocate. He needs to be held accountable for this.
Asset Director Paul Carter shouting at Lee to "make this problem go away," referring to me, after receiving a scathing email (will share later) degrading me and my kids. I have also seen an email from the marketing team - Lauren Hopkins suggested back in November that RollerXpress was bringing a "bad sort of customer" to the Quays.
It didn't matter that we paid their ridiculous parking charges, ate in their restaurants, and supported their shops. Skaters of all backgrounds and families like mine were quietly decided as "unwelcome."
Peel Management chose corporate greed and snobbery over a thriving, inclusive community project that took so much love to build. They saw neurodivergent and disabled kids as a "problem" to erase rather than a community to support.
To Lee, Kayla, Elle, Will, Dan, Callum, Ava, Bel and Erin(!): thank you from the bottom of my heart for giving my family a safe space, even while Peel treated us all with such contempt. We love you, and we stand with you. 💔✨

To Our Amazing RollerXpress Family ❤️🛼
It’s hard to put into words how much this community means to us. RollerXpress has always been so much more than just a skate floor and four wheels—it’s the energy, the laughter, the music, learning a new skill, being a safe space and every single one of you who brought this place to life.
Looking at the floor quiet and empty hits a bit differently, but it’s filled with so many incredible memories we’ve all shared together.
A Little Space to Heal & Welcome Kelly!
As many of you know, Lee is taking some much-needed, well-deserved time away from the business to rest, grieve, and recoup. We know you'll all join us in sending Lee so much love, strength, and gentle energy during this time.
While Lee steps away, we are thrilled to share that Kelly has stepped up as an advocate for RollerXpress!
Kelly has generously volunteered her time to keep the momentum going and represent our community. Over the coming weeks and months, she’ll be sharing our vision moving forward as we work behind the scenes to develop, build, and rejuvenate our skate community.
What’s Next & How You Can Help
We aren't done yet—in fact, the next chapter is just beginning.
More Hands on Deck: Kelly will soon be reaching out for more volunteers to help us build this next phase. If you love this community and want to help shape its future, keep your eyes peeled for ways to get involved!
Thank you all for your patience, your incredible love, and your loyalty. Keep those wheels spinning in spirit, stay tuned for updates from Kelly, and let’s build something amazing together for the future.
With so much love and gratitude,
The RollerXpress Team 🛼✨

To our incredible skate family... 🛼❤️
Today we rolled out our very last skate session, and our hearts are completely full. We want to say a massive, heartfelt thank you to every single one of you who has supported us, brought the energy, and shown off your amazing skating skills on the floor!
Watching this community grow into such a welcoming, hyped, and positive space—completely free of narky comments and full of pure encouragement—has been the absolute best part of this journey. You made this space what it was.
A extra-special shoutout has to go to our incredible skate team. To everyone who kept serving hire skates, tending to the bumps and bruises, and mixing up the absolute best tasting slushies and shakes in Gloucester—you are the real MVPs and the true heartbeat of our sessions! 🥤✨
Huge love to everyone who made it out to session with us today! And for those of you who couldn't make it or said you'd see us next time... don't worry, there will be a next time.
Our plans just got a whole lot more real. We’ve been handed an exciting opportunity to take this community rink to the next level, and this isn't a final goodbye—it's just the start of the next chapter. 🚀
We’re keeping our social media accounts active, so feel free to drop us a message anytime if you want to chat. Keep your eyes on our page for news and updates as things develop behind the scenes.
