You’re probably thinking, ‘what on earth is korfball?’, please let us explain. Korfball is a mixed gender team sport, meaning guys and girls play on the same team (4 males and 4 females). It is very similar to both basketball and netball and the aim is to score more goals through the 3.5 metre high hoop (aka ‘korf’) than your opponents. Despite having just seven players, the Lions put up a valiant fight against Bristol Hornets, but fell short in an 18-15 loss.

Emma continued her red-hot form, firing in five goals to take her season tally to an incredible 37 in just 12 games.

James was in unstoppable form once again, matching Emma’s five-goal haul and securing his fourth MVP award of the season — his second in as many games. He now boasts 18 goals in nine appearances.

Stu kept his scoring streak alive with two more goals, bringing his season total to a remarkable 46 in 10 games.

Chris B, Leni and Martin each scored one.

Special recognition goes to Lois, who played as the team’s lone female for the second time this season, putting in a tireless performance and earning a well-deserved fifth MVP award of the season.

The Lions clawed their way to a thrilling 15-16 victory in Bristol, edging out a resilient Thunder 4 side in a fiercely-contested battle.

The game was a true showcase of top-tier korfball, with both teams neck and neck throughout.

Martin and Stu were at the heart of the Lions’ attack, each scoring four goals to continue their red-hot form this season. Martin, now on 39 goals in 12 games, stole the show with a breathtaking self-assisted goal, while Stu’s tally soared to 44 in just nine appearances.

The Lions’ firepower was well distributed across the team, with Beth S, James and Leni each contributing two goals. Beth S and James both captured their third MVP award of the season.

Emma and Saul added a goal apiece.

The Lions roared to a dominant 30-8 victory over the University of Bristol on Saturday, showcasing their depth.

Emma found the korf seven times to bring her season tally to a staggering 31 goals in just 10 games. Her performance earned her another well-deserved MVP award - her fourth of the campaign.

Martin wasn’t far behind, firing in six and earning his seventh MVP award of the season. His total now stands at 35 in 11 matches.

Chris S made only his second first-team appearance of the season and found the scoresheet five times.

Stu, as consistent as ever, matched that total to keep up his impressive average of five goals per game.

Josie chipped in with three, while Beth S and Lois each found the target twice to round off a great team performance.

In a nail-biting contest, the Lions were forced to settle for a 16-16 draw after University of Bristol 2 staged a late comeback.

The opposition’s first team showed their support from the sidelines, creating an intense atmosphere from start to finish.

The Lions looked in control for much of the game and held a 14-10 lead with just 12 minutes remaining. Bristol, however, refused to back down, rallying in the final minutes to sn**ch a dramatic draw.

Kristina once again proved her attacking brilliance, scoring four goals and securing her fourth MVP award of the season. Her tally now stands at an impressive 22 goals in six appearances - an average of 3.67 per game.

Anna and Dave both delivered solid performances with three goals each, while Leni and Ryan added two apiece.

Ryan’s stunning long-range goal in under a minute was a highlight of the match, helping earn him his first MVP award of the season.

Annabel and Kumar also got on the scoresheet, with Kumar celebrating his first goal of the season.

The Lions marched into Exeter last Sunday with just seven players, yet emerged victorious with a hard-fought 16-13 win.

Stu, Emma and Martin all continued their blistering form.

Stu led the charge with seven goals - pushing his season tally to a staggering 35 in just seven appearances - an astonishing five goals per game.

Emma was equally relentless, adding five to bring her total to 24 in nine games, while Martin delivered another stellar performance with four goals, taking his season total to 29 in 10.

Their brilliance didn’t go unnoticed. Both claimed MVP honours for the second game running, marking Emma’s third and Martin’s sixth of the campaign.

The Lions suffered a tough 31-4 defeat against Bristol City 2 last Saturday.

Kristina bagged two goals to bring her season tally to an astonishing 18 in just five games. Her performance earned her a well-deserved third MVP award of the season.

Meanwhile, Ivan and Peter each scored their second goal of the campaign.

Fresh from his outstanding debut, Alex once again put in a solid performance to walk away with the male MVP award.

The Lions endured a tough 22-8 loss to Bristol City on Saturday.

Saul bagged a hat-trick, bringing his season tally to 11 goals in eight games.

Martin and Emma each got a brace and both picked up MVP awards - Martin’s fifth of the season and Emma’s second. Martin has a staggering 25 goals in nine games, while Emma has 19 in eight.

Lois rounded off the scoring with her 10th goal in seven games.

Leni received the referee’s MVP award.

The Lions faced a tough battle against Exeter City 3 last Sunday, falling 14-4, but there were many positives to take.

Alex announced himself in style on his debut, bagging an impressive brace. Meanwhile, Beth P, Ivan, and Peter continued to grow their presence, making their second, third, and fourth appearances, respectively.

With Dave K unavailable, Chris S stepped up as captain and delivered once again. Not only did he find the korf for his 19th goal of the season, but he also walked away with the male MVP and referee’s MVP awards - a testament to his leadership on the court.

Annabel added her seventh goal of the campaign.

Harriet also shone, earning her second female MVP award of the season.

He’s only gone and done it again!

If crazy golf wasn’t enough, Ryan’s won the Christmas training session for, we think, the third year running!

He finished on 103 points, while Saul finished in second with 95.

The Lions fell to a 21-8 defeat against second-placed Exeter City 2 on Saturday, but there were plenty of positives to take.

Em and Ryan stepped up to make only their second and third appearances for the first team, respectively.

The scoreline was 10-6 at half-time, but some pinpoint long-range shooting from Exeter helped them pull away in the second half.

Martin and Emma were the standout performers, each scoring three goals. Both are posting incredible numbers this season, as Martin now has 23 goals in eight appearances, while Emma has 17 in seven. Martin was named the referee’s MVP.

Chris B scored one and collected his first ever MVP award, while Ryan scored his first goal for the first team.

Lois, ever-consistent, claimed her fourth MVP award of the season.

The Lions return to action on January 18th, away to Bristol City.

Ryan tipped Chris S to victory by one shot, with a score of 51.

He treated himself to a celebratory cocktail and said he’s already preparing for his defence of the trophy next year!

The Lions made it back-to-back wins with a gritty performance against the University of Bristol.

Despite the hosts’ incredible shooting and youthful energy, the Lions leaned on their experience to clinch a 21-17 victory.

No stranger to the scoresheet, captain Stu led for the Lions with six, bringing his season total to 28 goals in six games.

Emma capped off an MVP performance with five goals, and now has 14 in six.

A solid three-goal performance from Martin saw him claim the male MVP award for the fourth time this season.

James, Leni and Saul each got a brace, while Lois added one to keep her scoring streak alive for her third consecutive game.

The Lions roared to victory in an exciting battle with the University of Bristol 2 yesterday.

In the absence of captain Dave, Chris S took the reigns and led his troops to a 17-12 victory.

The Lions’ experience shone through, as Kristina continued her fine goalscoring form, finding the korf on seven occasions. She bagged the female MVP award for the second time this season and now has 16 goals in four games.

Chris S added six to his season total. He now sits on 18 goals in five games.

Anna chipped in with three, and Peter, making only his third appearance for the Lions, scored his first goal and was named the male MVP.

The Lions picked up their third victory of the season on Saturday, against a resilient Bristol Thunder 4 side who had great travelling support on their side.

Despite trailing at half time, the Lions turned up the heat in the second half with some precision shooting and incredible energy.

Emma, Martin and Stu each found the korf four times. Stu clinched the male MVP award for the first time this season and now has 22 goals in five appearances.

Lois shone once again in a solid three-goal performance, securing the female MVP award for her second consecutive game and the third time this season. Her consistency is showing through with eight goals in four games.

Beth S, Leni and Saul each added two, while James chipped in with a free pass, showing the Lions’ incredible depth.

The Lions travel to Bristol on Sunday to play the University of Bristol.

The Lions fell just short in a thrilling 8-9 battle yesterday, to a Bristol Thunder 5 side who went into this one with four wins from four.

With a mix of experience and some relatively new korfers, the Lions did themselves proud and showed incredible fight, but it was Thunder 5 who ultimately came out on top to keep their winning streak alive.

Chris S once again showed his consistency, scoring another three goals to maintain his average of three goals per game, thus capturing the male MVP award.

Kristina also scored three goals, while also maintaining an average of three goals per game, with a total of nine goals in three appearances.

In only her second appearance of the season, Anna sinked two of her trademark runners to bag the female MVP award.

It was also great to see former Lion Chloe back at Oxstalls, who now represents Thunder.

The Lions now look ahead to next Sunday, when they travel to Bristol to face University of Bristol 2.
