⚽️ GCAFC Festival of Tournament - U7s ⚽️

What a fantastic morning for all who were in attendance. The weather was perfect and the boys were in fine form.

We played 4 games, won 3 and lost unfortunately to FC Lakeside. The manager came up to us and said that it was a tough match and the team are getting better each week.

There was some fine football on display, great passing and forward player and solid defending. All around, great individual and team performances.

🏆 POTW - Alf

POTW as voted by the Parents went to Alf, even though it was very close in the voting.

We hope you all have a great Sunday and enjoy the parade on TV.

⚽️ WPYFC U7s Training ⚽️

**23 May 26**

We had a fantastic training session this morning! The energy from the team was top-tier. We spent time sharpening our dribbling and shooting, while making sure our goalkeepers got plenty of vital shot-stopping practice.

A massive shoutout to our two newest players who had taster's with the squad today—they fit right in and put in a brilliant shift! Almost scoring in the match too!

We finished up with a full-squad match. To even up the numbers, Coach Jahmel and Coach Adam laced up their boots and joined in.

The undisputed highlight of the match was Coach Adam pulling off a cheeky nutmeg on Coach Jahmel!

🏆POTM - Josh

The award today went to Josh! Following his excellent performance in Tuesday's friendly, he continued that fine form into today's session with some outstanding dribbling and clinical shooting.

Fantastic work from everyone today. Enjoy the rest of your weekend, and we'll see you at the next session!

⚽️ WPYFC U6 Training ⚽️

**23 May 26**

Morning sunshine and pure talent!

Our U6s turned up the heat today in an absolute thriller of an in-house friendly! The growth these players are showing is unbelievable—we saw fantastic dribbling, sharp attacking transitions, and incredible work rates across the pitch.

Our backline was in fine form today, putting on defensive displays that were second only to Saliba and Gabriel! And a huge shout out to Alfred Raya, who looked unbeatable between the sticks with some top-tier saves.

A massive congratulations to today’s Players of the Week:

🏆 Elijah (Red Team): Outstanding work rate! Brilliant in both attack and defence, helping the team massively when transitioning in and out of possession.

🏆 Otis (Blue Team): A striker’s masterclass! He took his chances beautifully for a quick-fire double, then stepped up to smash home a penalty to claim his hat-trick!

Every single player left it all on the pitch today. The future is very bright!

⚽️WPYFC U5 Training Session⚽️

Fantastic session with the players. We focused on match time today, 3v3 for the older U5s and 1v1 for the younger. All the teams played really well and all the matches were competitive. Want to give a shout out to Henry, Ozzie and Noah for their masterclass as a defensive unit. They were solid against to a good attack. Well done boys.

After the matches we played Hungry Hippos. A firm favourite with the players and whilst there was a little bit of sneaky cheating 😜 all the players did well. It's a great way for the players to practice their dribbling at a faster pace, whilst having fun doing it.

I really liked everything I saw from the players.

🏆POTW - Noah, he performed impeccably today in the matches. A real defensive presence. But I'm most proud that he is starting to get his confidence back and it's so easy to see the difference in the way he plays and trains. Well done Noah.

🏆POTW - Camden, there seems to be a theme with Camden. Each time he has got POTW he has hurt himself at some point during the session. Today Coach Andy pointed him out as being a colossal during the matches. His all round play was brilliant and his focus was on point. Well done Camden.

⚽️WPYFC U5s Training Session⚽️

**23 May 26**

Another great training seasion today. Coach Callum lead the players in numerous activities to provide them with a great variety of different opportunities to be active. We started with the tried and test traffic lights game, but Coach added a problem solving task where the players had to find a partner on his call. The players adapted really well to the new ask.

The games, as always, were competitive and high quality.

Well done to all the players. Pretty sure they are solar powered! They had great energy throughout the session, in the sun.

🏆POTW - Ozzie

Flawless commitment, enthusiasm and energy. Couldn't be more proud of Ozzie. He shows progression every week. He was alert and attentive today. A joy to coach well done.

🏆POTW - Marley

One of our newest players and still finding his feet in the team. Today he focused his energy and attention in the matches. He had some great dribbles with the ball and changed direction really well. Again, a super proud coach. Well done Marley. Keep it up.

⚽️ WPYFC U8 BBs v Cheltenham Town ⚽️

Friendly match

We welcomed Cheltenham Town Girls in a spirited under- U8s friendly fixture, with the Bluebells fielding a changing squad, giving several players the opportunity to experience match action in new positions. It was also a special day for newcomers Emma and Jessica, who made their first appearances for the Bluebells, the smiles were hopefully a good indication that they enjoyed it!

Despite coming up against a strong Cheltenham Town side, the Bluebells showed great determination and teamwork throughout the match. Cheltenham played some impressive football and on the whole we responded well with committed defending and some good tracking back across the pitch.

Polly was kept busy in goal and produced a number of fantastic saves to keep the team battling throughout then in the final quarter she swapped with Nora who did an equally sterling job between the sticks!

Importantly, the match provided valuable experience for every player involved, with the team showing resilience, positivity, and great team spirit against quality opposition. A great effort from all the girls

🏆 POTM - Oshai

A standout performance came from Oshai who was outstanding from start to finish. Her relentless tracking, strong defending, and composure on the ball helped keep the team organised, while her passes forward created opportunities for teammates to push up the pitch and look for chances on goal.

⚽️ WPYFC U7s v Longlevens ⚽️

Our Under 7s had a return match against another strong Longlevens team today to support their preparations for the league next year.

The players were locked in right from the whistle, and it really showed after the first 10 minutes.

Everyone was battling for every single ball and playing with massive confidence going forward.

All the hard work on the training pitch was on full display today. We saw some passing combinations that can only be described as prime Barcelona, mixed with a few Gerrard-esque long balls!

Credit to the Longlevens team—they never gave up, battled all the way to the end, and fully deserved their goals for an incredible display. They are a top side and will go far.

🏆 POTW - Amir

Our POTW was unanimously decided within the first 10 minutes! He definitely brought his shooting boots today, smashing in numerous goals in just 10 minutes. It was a lethal performance that set the tone and the bar for the rest of the team. Well done Amir.

⚽️ WPYFC U6 Training ⚽️

A solid start this morning from our Under 6s! We focused on our ball mastery before getting stuck straight into matches.

Our initial intention was to run some passing drills, however, with the exceptional passing already on show, the players made it an easy decision to just play matches for the entire session!

🏆 POTW

Our Players of the Week have both been on fine form:

🏆 Albie (Mr. Consistent): Showed everyone his incredible hard work both on and off the ball, in attack and defense, alongside great vision with his passing.

🏆 Oscar: Kept up his fine form with an exceptional work rate, fantastic dribbling, and solid attacking displays.

⚽️WPYFC U5s Training Session⚽️

Great turn out today nearly had everyone at training. One of the best sessions we have had. As always, the first activity was dribbling based. We played the Volcanoes and Craters gane. All the boys showed great ability, especially Marley. Once he understood the objective, he was flawless. Well done. The game allowed the boys to settle into the session, ready for the rest of the next activities. The Volcanoes team won, but who's keeping score!

We moved on to our short passing drill. Super simple, just passing up the line. Passing has been our focus the last few weeks and the boys are excelling at it. They are all learning more intricate control with the ball. Loving what I'm seeing.

We ended the season with matches. This week was the first week where both myself and Coach Callum saw players independently passing to team mates. Super proud of the players for this. Won't be long before we're better than the old Real Madrid Galacticos of the 2000s.

🏆POTW - Rafferty

Raff has been building and building in confidence as a team mate and a ball technician and today it all came together. His communication during the matches and desire to bring others into the game was superb. Really impressed.

🏆POTW - George

One of our newer players and has gelled with his new teammates really well. Today he was exemplary in listening and following instructions. But what impressed me the most was that he challenges for every ball and doesn't stop. Keep it up George.

This week I decided to introduce the Coach Callum Award. Coach Callum is my coaching partner and rock. He really does make the magic happen for the sessions.

🏆 The Coach Callum Award - Lonzo

Coach Callum was super impressed with Lonzo's passing today. He brought his team mates into the game and struck up a great partnership with Fox. Keep impressing Lonzo.

⚽️ WPYFC U8 BBs v Quedgeley U8s ⚽️

After our recent trip to the Butlins ESF tournament, this match gave us a great chance to build on the confidence we gained from competing so well against strong opposition.

The girls started brightly, driving forward with purpose and showing real confidence in their 1v1 play. They were brave on the ball, took players on well, and kept pressing forward, with Vienna deservedly getting on the scoresheet.

Defensively, the team worked hard throughout, marking tightly and showing plenty of determination to win the ball back. The effort and energy across the pitch was excellent, even if we occasionally found ourselves crowding into the same areas. Despite this, Quedgeley equalised towards the end of the second quarter.

As the game went on, the girls began to lift their heads more and combine really well with some excellent passing moves after strong runs forward, rather than always trying to force a way through individually. The third quarter saw chances at both ends, but both goalkeepers were in great form and produced some brilliant saves.

Whatever was said during the break certainly had the desired effect, because the girls came out for the final quarter full of energy and determination. Their work rate was relentless, they kept battling for every ball, and they finished the match having played some really exciting football finding the back of the net multiple times with some great strikes! 🥅

🏆 POTM - Team

Great team effort today so Coach awarded it to the team for how well they worked together 👏🏼
