It’s a mid-flighted shot that lands softly onto the green with control, allowing you to access tighter pins and get it close on firmer greens. To execute this shot successfully, it’s super important to have a smooth tempo… . ELITE LEVEL TEMPO One of the best drills I use for developing tempo is to play some shots with my thumbs off the grip. This allows you to feel the weight of the club head and stop you from pulling too hard on the grip at the top of the backswing. . If you can master this, you’ll find that the ball comes off the face more slowly and with more spin, landing onto the green like a bag of sugar! .
