Our two Man of the Match winners from today’s victory over North Shields.

⚽️ Oppositions MOTM - Lucas. Our captain lead by example, he was everywhere. Scored a brilliant penalty in the shootout too. What a way to celebrate his birthday too 🥳.

⚽️ Coaches MOTM - Gabi. He worked his socks off, always pressing and always involved. Then to top off his effort, he scored a crucial goal.

Well done boys 👏👏👏

Chairman’s Cup

Wideopen Wanderers 3-3 (5-3 Pens) North Shields

An end to end game today at Seaton Burn seen us do it the hard way and advance to the next round.

We opened the scoring with an outrageous strike from Zach which flew into the top corner from outside the box. After that it was a comfortable first half without really conceding a chance and some sloppy final balls stopping us from extending our lead.

Into the second half and things changed, very sloppy with the ball, not following runners and constantly giving the ball away. This resulted in North Shields getting a goal back and making it 1-1.

After some changes we took control of the game with a quick double from Gabi and Tommy to make it 3-1 and it looked as though the game was finished.

Two errors at the back turned the game on its head and meant we finished 3-3, taking the match to penalties.

A massive well done to both sides, anyone who steps up to take a penalty at any level deserves massive credit.

We took 5 immaculate penalties from Lucas, Zach, Jamie, Sonny and Tommy meant we won the penalty shootout 5-3 and progressed to the next round.

Well done boys

What looks such a simple goal for Jamie and assisted by Alex…..

But, they utilised lots of things that we have been working on.

- Overlap
- Holding positions
- Losing your defender
- Accuracy of the cross
- Decision making
- Finishing

All for a 3 second bit of quality.

Keep it up boys 👏👏👏

This weeks Trainer of the Week - Lucas.

Our club captain always leads by example, whether it be in a match or in training. Always setting the high standards that should always be followed.

Brilliant on the ball as always, brilliant off the ball and never stops smiling.

Well done Lucas 👏👏

Another enjoyable training session on Tuesday night.

This week we worked on;

⚽️ Midfield link ups, showing for the ball, first time lay offs all whilst being man marked.

⚽️ 5 Vs 5 quick transition drills, from attack to defence and working on our recovery.

⚽️ Large sized final game, encouraging utilising the width.

Next up, we welcome North Shields in the League Cup
