Behind the scenes: making sure every coach knows exactly what a new member’s welcome pack looks like, and what’s in it.

Matt walks the team through it in detail — because onboarding isn’t just a formality here. Member goals get discussed properly, so every coach knows what you’re working toward from day one.

That’s what happens before you even put your gloves on.

Motivation won't last. And that is completely fine.
Everyone starts fired up. Then life gets busy and the buzz wears off. That is normal, and it is exactly why so many people stop.
Here is the truth. You do not need to feel motivated every day. You just need to keep showing up. Consistency is what wins.
And that is where we come in. Miss a couple of sessions and someone will notice. We check in, and we get you back. Because one session is nothing, but a hundred sessions is a different person.
Motivation gets you started. We help you keep going. Start this week.

Want me to line up the rest of the week (a transformation for Tuesday/Friday and coaching-clip posts), or tweak anything on this one?

I took a trip to network with 20 other gym owners and this was the biggest takeaway:

"How can we create an experience so outstanding, members are all but guaranteed to succeed?"

Not marketing gimmicks

No sleazy sales strategies

It's all about creating insane value for everyone who comes on board.

I can't wait to put what we've learned into practice 🙌

Coach Jamie breaking down a mistake he sees quite often - over-relying on the right hand during the 1-2.

The jab sets it up — it’s not just a warm-up punch before the real one lands.

Stop “BOSHING” the right hand!

Three weeks in, and Matt already knows what makes this place different.

He came looking to build a bit of confidence. He'd boxed here and there before, and when he found us, local and close by, he came down for a chat. That was pretty much that. One look at the community and he couldn't say no.

But the bit that's stuck with him most is the support. He reckons it's like nowhere he's been before. Everyone checks in on you. Miss a couple of sessions and someone will chase you up and get you back down. That's how you stay consistent, and consistency is what keeps you on the right course.

His advice if you're on the fence? Come down. Watch a session. See how it runs. Have a chat with the coaches and ask anything you like. It's a lovely team, and they're more than happy to put any worries to bed.

Matt moved to the area on the lookout for one thing. A high quality boxing coach.
Not a bog standard gym. Not being thrown into a massive group class where you learn nothing new. He wanted genuine coaching that would actually move him forward.
So he joined Box & Build, locked into one to one sessions and small group coaching, and committed to levelling up his strength and conditioning too.
Here's where that took him. The strongest version of himself he's ever been. From barely managing assisted pull ups to full weighted reps. The body of his life. And a win in the ring with us.
And he did all of this around a genuinely packed life. Two young daughters. A busy career as a solicitor and partner at a law firm. Matt made it work because it mattered to him.
That's the lesson right there. You don't find time for the things that matter. You make it.

No beginners in today, so we turned the agility ladder up a notch.

Enter the hopscotch drill. Both feet out, left out, right out, and try not to tie your feet in knots. Get it right and it looks smooth. Get it wrong and, well, it might just end up on Instagram.

This is footwork, coordination and quick feet. The stuff that makes everything else in boxing click. And if you're waiting your turn, you're not standing still. You're bouncing, ready to go.

Add a bit of style, have a bit of fun, maybe pile a little pressure on the person in front of you. That's half the point. Train hard, laugh plenty.

Fancy giving it a go?

Meet Peter. Our strength and conditioning coach, and a man who's been under a barbell since the mid seventies.

He picked up his first weights as a teenager, trained as a PE teacher, and has spent a lifetime since then lifting, coaching and competing. Decades of it. That's the kind of experience you cannot fake.

Now he brings all of it to the gym floor with us. Real exercise science, made simple. Whether you're an experienced athlete chasing performance, or brand new and just want to learn how to move properly, Peter meets you where you are and builds you from the ground up. Anatomy, technique, the basics done right.

In his own words, he's absolutely loving it. And you feel that in every session.

Come and train with him.

Seems simple right?

It’s so easy to drop your guard, figuratively and literally!

Never underestimate the act of staying alert.

Two stone gone in six months. And Joe did it doing something he actually enjoyed.
That's the part most people miss. Joe had spent years on treadmills and cross trainers, going through the motions, watching the clock, getting nowhere. He knew boxing was the sport he'd always loved. He just never fancied walking into a traditional boxing gym on his own.
So he reached out, we found an approachable setting that worked for him, and he took the plunge. A sport he loved. A coach he could work with. A group that felt right. Add in a couple of smart changes to his diet and the results took care of themselves.
Because here's the thing about training you actually enjoy. You don't skip it. You show up, you work hard, you burn the calories, and the weight comes off. Without it ever feeling like a grind.
Two stone. Six months. A sport he now loves training.
If you've been putting off getting started because the gym feels boring or intimidating, Joe's story is your answer.
