A massive thank you to everyone who attended today!

There is still plenty to do at the new venue, and we appreciate everyone being so understanding while we continue getting everything finished. That said, we are fully operational—and we now have loads more room to train!

The youngsters started the evening strongly from 4:30, and the adults closed it out with plenty of energy.

Rob is happy—and we do like a happy Rob.

Great work from everyone. Well done!

It takes time and hard work to get to where you want to be—and that feels like the perfect philosophy for us right now.

Three weeks ago, we collected the keys to an empty building. Tonight, our members stepped onto the mats and continued their jiu-jitsu journeys in our new home.

There is still plenty of work to do this weekend, and we genuinely appreciate everyone who continues to give up their time to help. It’s great to see people recognising the original vision for the building and watching it all come together.

A massive thank you to Sarah for lending us her Super5 mats while we wait for our new mats to arrive from China.

This weekend, we’ll also be updating the timetable, introducing our new coaches and sharing the next stage of what we’re building for our members.

The pictures don’t tell the full story—we are further along than it may look!

Tomorrow is about decorating and moving the remaining equipment from our old venue into the new one.

It will take another couple of weeks before every area is fully operational, which is why we have always said that September will be our soft opening.

We are planning to have our first roll tomorrow night at 19:00. The only things that could prevent this are a delayed plumbing part and whether I get enough time to fit the toilet doors!

If you’re planning to train, please make sure you book onto the session through Gymdesk. Newcomers are also welcome to come along and join us.

As always, extra hands tomorrow would be greatly appreciated as we try to get as much completed as possible.

If you don’t want to roll tomorrow night but would like to have a look around, feel free to pop your head through the door and say hello.

This weekend, the coaches will also be working together to expand and update the current timetable.

We’re nearly there.

UPDATE

The truth with any building project is that unexpected problems will always appear—and there is no such thing as a five-minute job.

We’ve dealt with several plumbing issues, including walking in at midnight last night to find the urinal cistern overflowing. Installing the punch-bag rig was expected to take a couple of hours but took the entire day, while the bank holiday also delayed several deliveries. Unfortunately, that is simply the reality of a project like this.

The good news is that today we are finishing the areas needed to begin opening the gym.

September will be our soft-opening period while we complete the remaining areas and fully move everything into the new venue. Decorating began last night, and the spray gun will be coming out shortly. We will then begin moving the cage, pit walls, mats and remaining equipment from our previous venue.

Our current plan is to hold an open evening for members tomorrow. The exact times will be released later this evening.

With several new coaches joining the team, we will also update the timetable and website this weekend while continuing to finish the remaining work around the building.

A massive thank you for your patience as we have gone beyond our original opening date. Everyone involved is working extremely hard, and we are incredibly grateful to everyone who has given their time to help us get this far.

We are not quite at the finishing line yet. There is still plenty of clearing, moving and decorating to complete tonight, so extra hands would be appreciated this evening, as always.

We are now very close.

As part of the move, these guys won’t be coming with us… and we have seven looking for new homes.

Would any of our members like to adopt one?

You’ll need to give them a name, tuck them into bed at night and make sure they get plenty of cuddles—when you’re not throwing them around and practising submissions on them.

Let us know if you’d like one. First come, first served!

We’re currently working at a million miles an hour to get the new gym ready. Early mornings and late nights have become the norm.

We’ve had a few setbacks with plumbing, additional work, insulation everywhere and ensuring everything is fully fire compliant. We were also expecting a delivery of essential parts on Friday. That was moved to Saturday, but it never arrived, so we now have to assume it will be delivered on Tuesday.

Between completing the work, making tip runs, coordinating the help available and waiting for these parts, we are running slightly behind schedule.

Our current aim is to reopen on Wednesday. If we manage to catch up and the parts arrive early enough, we will do everything possible to open on Tuesday. In the worst-case scenario, reopening will be Thursday.

We’re doing everything we can to get everyone back training as soon as possible, and we’ll keep you updated as the work progresses.

We genuinely appreciate the support from everyone who has offered to help and those who continue to turn up and get involved. Every extra pair of hands is helping us move closer to the finish line.

TWO WEEKS IN.

It’s amazing to think we moved into the new venue just two weeks ago today and how much has been achieved since.

The plan is still to OPEN TUESDAY.

With so much still left to do, it’s hard to know whether we’re on track or starting to fall behind — so the focus now is simply to keep pushing and stay on track.

As always, any help is appreciated. Whether it’s holding plasterboard while the ceilings go up today, helping with smaller jobs, taking some rubbish away (which is a massive help!), or getting involved this weekend as we move onto decorating and finishing — every pair of hands helps.

We’ve come a long way in two weeks.

Now it’s about getting across the line.

🚨 BOOK ON FOR TONIGHT — OUR FINAL CLASSES AT NOBES AVENUE

Tonight is our final night at Nobes Avenue, so make sure you book your place and join us for the last sessions at our current home.

We will then be closed from Thursday 27 August through to Monday 31 August while we complete the move.

🥊 WE REOPEN TUESDAY 1 SEPTEMBER

📍 Praetorian MMA
Unit 4C, Fielder Drive
Newgate Lane, Fareham
PO14 1JE

We are next door to Brewers Decorator Centres and just behind Howdens and Hopscotch Day Nursery. Take the Fielder Drive exit from the roundabout connecting Newgate Lane and Longfield Avenue, with Elliotts on the corner.

September will be our soft-opening month while we complete the finishing work, but this will not affect our classes.

The new facility will bring:

* A much larger training space
* A sprung training floor
* A new boxing and punch-bag rig
* Showers and upgraded changing facilities
* More striking and Muay Thai classes for younger members
* New Saturday classes
* New coaches joining our team
* Improved insulation and heating
* Air conditioning planned for the future
* 1D Printing operating from inside the facility

The attached pictures formed part of our original design and show what we set out to build, giving you an insight into the vision for the new facility. Some elements have changed and developed since these designs were created, but they provide a good indication of what is coming.

This is a new era for Praetorian MMA and a facility built to match our long-term vision.

Book on for tonight and join us for our final classes at Nobes Avenue.

The mezzanine is up. The stairs are in place. The flooring is going down.

Underneath, the showers and changing rooms are taking shape, while a complete electrical rewire is also underway. We’re moving quickly and working through the jobs to stay on track for our soft opening on 1 September.

Extra hands are always appreciated. If you can spare an hour or two to help with labouring, building or taking away some rubbish, it would make a real difference.

We’re here from early morning until very late—getting it done.
