On Sunday 20th September, Sudbrook Moor Golf Club will be hosting the Lincolnshire 9 Hole Golf Club Championship, The Rita Hurst Salver.
Sudbrook Moor are the holders of the Salver, winning last year with the team of Martin Corby, Nigel Corby, Andy Dunderdale and Craig Toyne.
Sudbrook Moor has a special connection with Rita Hurst. Tim Hutton, at a county event at Sutton Bridge Golf Club, commented to Rita how effective the Pampas Grass was surrounding the Clubhouse. The next week Rita turned up at Sudbrook Moor with a cutting of Pampas Grass. It still blocks a wayward shot to the 5th / 14th green.

2 of Sudbrook Moor’s lowest Handicap Members, Craig Toyne and Daniel Agapito won The Midland Closed Team Amateur Championship at Hinckley Golf Club, with a 72 Hole Aggregate of 3 Over Par.

5 days later, Daniel went on to win the Lincolnshire County
Junior, Les Johnson Trophy with a 4 under par 68 at Sleaford Golf Club.

What a wonderful mentor Daniel has in Craig Toyne.

The golf course at Carlton Scroop opened for play in August 1986, originally a practice ground with 6 holes around the outside of a 17 acre field. With a mission statement of “Affordable, Quality Golf in a Friendly Environment”, and “Golf Available to All”, golfers were asked to put a £1 green fee in an honestly box at the gate. On the first day of opening, a very well dressed gentleman came into the car park in a new Mercedes and took out a large colourful bag of clubs and a trolley. Owner, Tim Hutton thought he was going to be very disappointed. On leaving the course he said thank you to Tim and said “That’s the best £1’s worth I’ve ever spent.” This has always been Sudbrook Moor’s commitment, to try to exceed value above the cost. The "Friendly" element is down to our Members and Visitors, to whom we are extremely grateful.
10 golf clubs have opened in the Grantham, Boston and Lincoln area since 1986. Many of their members hit there first golf ball at Carlton Scroop and the encouragement of juniors has produced many of Lincolnshire’s top players.

Martin Corby wins The Club Championship, incredibly, for the 13th time. Many congratulations Martin. Dad, Nigel, came in second.
3rd Scott Allison, 4th David Lee, 5th Dan Blankley.
Martin hit the hole on the 18th with his second shot for a tap in birdie and a score of 68.

Congratulation to Andy Dunderdale, who won the Millennium Trophy for the 3rd year running ( Best nett Saturday and Sunday )
