Punjab United 3 - 2 Holmesdale
Punjab Unitedβs last home game of 2024 was an absolute cracker (Pun intended).
Plenty was at stake as we played Holmesdale who sat just a place below us in the Premier League.
The game started with the spark that was expected with 2 goals within 15 minutes. Former Punjab man Malachai Hudson put Holmesdale ahead with a composed finish before our (soon to be Ballon Dβor nominated) Jack Barry .dbarry added to his goal tally for the season so far.
The second half followed the same pace as Jack Hopkins (Another with plenty on his goal tally this season) put Punjab ahead on 52 minutes. Holmesdale pulled back an equaliser through a thunderous strike from Wale Odedoyin on the 70th minute before the close end of the half was Punjab trying to get that winner.. deep into stoppage time that winner game. In the 94th minute with effectively the last kick of the game Jack Barry set the Steve Cook stadium alight with the winner.
Punjab sit 5th in the SCEFL Premier League with focus turning to our last game of 2024 at Hollands and Blair next Saturday.
