Reflecting on another great year of yoga.
As the yoga journey continues to unfold more and more each year, I am eternally thankful to all who have attended classes, workshops and continues to support me as a teacher.

Candlelit workshops seem particularly beautiful at this time of the year, letting go of the old, ready to embrace the new.

Amazing energy at Fusion Yoga this morning.
Everyone moving and flowing with the breath as one!
The Cyclopark Yoga community is a joy to teach.
I began my Yoga journey on a Saturday morning and to see this group consistently show at 8am every week makes me feel proud.

August has been a month of Hips, all classes structured around this theme. This can be a challenging part of the body, range of movement can bring it's own limitations.
Malasana, Side angle pose, Warrior ll, Goddess pose, Chair pose, Lizard pose, Tree pose all access the muscles around the hip joint , pelvis, hip flexors and glutes promoting healthy blood flow and possible increased range of movement over time.
Don't be disheartened, consistency is key but also yoga teaches us acceptance. Acceptance of our own uniqueness, the mat is a safe space where we can be who we are.

What does Yoga mean, it is different for different people.
Some use yoga to gain physical strength, stretch the muscles.
Some attend to find quiet stillness within.
Some love community, talking to like minded people.
Sometimes what you find while practicing yoga is not what you expected at all, that is the joy of this wonderful practice, there is something for everyone!
If you have never tried yoga but always wanted to, take the plunge, there are a variety of types to suit all needs, you'll never look back.

Friday's Yin Yoga pose is Constructive Rest, linger with any thoughts, feelings or sensations.
Acceptance of where we are in that given moment.
Remaining in this pose for 4-5 minutes connecting with the soft inhales and exhales.
Maybe this is all we need today to continue our day off of the mat facing challenges with clarity and focus.

Allow Yin Yoga to become part of your day settling into stillness of the body, breath and mind, simple but not always easy!
Childs pose targets the spine and hips, rest here for 4-5 minutes, become aware of the start of the pose, the middle of the pose and the end of the pose. Is there a subtle difference?
Perhaps today's goal for this Yin journey is to let go of anything we are holding.
