After a stressful afternoon where I found out that my car has made me considerably poorer (BETRAYAL!), and then a TWO-HOUR journey home from work as they closed the slip road onto the M2 just where I join it (also BETRAYAL!), my nervous system was in tatters by the time I got home.
Just ask Dan - the poor thing bore the brunt of it when I got back 😬
BUT... I'd been booked to cover the mindfulness class at Cascades, Cygnet & Swanscombe this evening, and I'd planned to teach a yoga nidra.
So off to work I went.
I've been reading about yoga nidra lots recently and have wanted to try teaching one for a while.
And then I found a transcript of a class given by Uma Dinsmore-Tuli PhD ADHD which absolutely blew me away. It begins with the quote above.
How perfect is it?
And even though I didn't get to lay my own body upon the earth, the ritual of reading the expanded version I'd prepared was incredibly grounding.
Judging by the reaction of the people who attended, I think it went down well!
Thank you all for being there, even though your regular teacher was away - a nice, warm welcome was very much appreciated after the previous few hours 🤣

I'd like to say a HUGE thank you to Jules Wood for inviting me along to teach on her wonderful retreat again this year.
Even though I could only stay for the afternoon and evening, a few hours' space was exactly what I needed. A Forest Bathing session, something I've never done before and which was really lovely. And a Tea Ceremony, which was fantastic!
And then a relaxing evening yoga session for everyone, using sthira and sukha (effort and ease) to help us look at hip and shoulder mobility.
And I realised, whilst chatting with Jules afterwards, that it was this time last year - on her retreat - that I spoke first about organising metal yoga sessions and retreats.
About not knowing where to start, or even if there was an audience for it.
But the support and encouragement I got from her there was so inspiring that I actually went and made it happen!
I can't recommend working with her enough. I joined her Journaling Club a while back and it blew me away. So much more powerful than I thought it would be.
If you're feeling stuck, or need direction, or just an understanding ear to help you make sense of your priorities, Jules is your lady!

New Substack just dropped!
Teaching yoga outdoors at Badgells Wood is one of my favourite ways to spend my Saturday mornings 🥰
'When you practice outside, life moves at a different pace. You know you have the time. You feel that sense of slowing down. You feel that connection between yourself and everything around you - with those in the class with you - who are having the same experience.'
I'd really appreciate it if you might read and share my post!
Thanks so much xx
