Hitting the bag, jogging, sprinting, shadow boxing, circuits, padwork
They're all things a boxer should do but the real thing you're training for is to box against someone else. The closest thing to that is sparring.
If you're sparring hard 2-3 times a week I'd wager that later in life that may cause you some health issues π₯΄
Drills are the closest thing to sparring with of course lower realism but also a lot less damage taken.
Hard sparring is definitely needed when training for a fight especially at the peak of camp but for novices and all year round, drills will do the job!
