Meopham Lawn Tennis Club

Captains report in final match of season for the Mens 1st team. The team was experimental, with two of our juniors chosen for this big clash with one of the classy clubs in North Kent. the Park Langley Tennis club!
Louis Latham made himself available from Milton Keynes, Sarb was playing another 1st team match, with his vets stats being the best at the club this Summer. we also had lawrie Head Coach and Ben playing together again ( a very strong pair). but most importantly we had the two juniors, Harvin and Theo. (these two, of four juniors who will get plenty of 1st team games this winter.) were put under pressure, playing together as 3rd pair.
unfortunately Ben picked up a virus this week, so the older Lawrie had to join the ranks at the last moment. father and son together as 2nd pair.
so how did we do????
WE WON!!! 8-4
EACH AND EVERYONE PLAYED THEIR PART!!!
The boys I am sure have learnt plenty and I believe some games with a more experianced partner in winter will take them to another level.
Lawrie ( Head Coach) had to play his last set with only socks on after his feet were in pain from his trainers. not sure how he did it, but maybe the pressure of no tea unless he continued from his dad was his motivation.

Victory for the Midweek Mixed Vets 1st Team for 3rd time!

After last season and a first match loss to Wickham Park plus an agonising wait for the final Catford result, which confirmed us as League winners, this season the team had no doubts at all as they were undefeated!!

This time Andy Candler turned out to be quite a regular playing no less than 4 matches, together with a new edition Sarb Sandhu, also Izzy Eustache plus a welcome return for Sandra Smith.

As usual we had really enjoyable matches 3 of them being convincing 8-0 wins and many thanks for all who played contributing to another league win and like the Winter this successful team are now in the top division in the Summer too!

This is the report by Audrey, who has been amazing this summer. Meopham Tennis Club has had so many players step up this year again, to make it enjoyable for many more members to get out on court, to have a competitive and enjoyable game of tennis.

Ladies2 had a good match yesterday playing on the lovely grass at Parklangley. Many thanks to Kay for playing (as Sandra was injured.) They were all good games especially Jackie and Anabelle being taken to a tight tie break, but PL (after being beaten by us earlier on in the season) put out some stronger players resulting in a loss.
next summer we will do better! 👍 Thanks to all those who played:

The U16's Boys have been superb this Summer. Billy and Theo have been a great partnership, but also fantastic members for our club. Billy has been committed all year to Mens team training, with a young group of juniors taking a hold in the sessions. Head Coach and the Mens Team Captain, have strong feelings that this winter and next Summer will be the right time to see these boys take charge in our mens 1st team.
Theo is not only making a charge in the teams, but has also taken a keen and enthusiast role in the coaching team and has also taken an important role in the club commitee to support the junior section of our club.
So back to this Summer? Winners of the league with no losses. The club is very proud.

Well played Meopham 1st Team on Sunday. Playing away to Oakwood with Erikas playing his first match in the 1st team with his partner Elliott. Some very tough opposition, especially their very syrong 1st pair, but Russ and Alex were on top form to get a win and a draw, whilst the super vets, Andy and Bohdan ended up with the same excellent results as second pair. Good draw against tough but friendly opposition. I must add Oakwoof has some great local support watching a very tight fixture.

Meopham v Bromley LTC

Well I captain a number of teams, but obviously our 1st team is special. its the most competative league we play and its a high division for a Village Club , competing with the big wigs.
This week we were playing home against one of the biggest clubs in Kent and were beaten convincingly away.
I was finding it hard to get our best 6 out due to holidays and County commitments, but i had a few suprises to bring to the table.
Russell Gula who has been busy supporting the Gravesham free park tennis, at last had a free spot.
Jack Robertson who will be leaving for Uni in September has been superb the past two years playing 1st pair with Russ.
Louis Latham who is now livng near Milton Keynes, still makes the effort to commit whenever possible and is in the NK mixd doubles final in a couple of weeks ( good luck matey).
Lawrie Lowe (head Coach) joined Louis to have a very strong top four players. lawrie with fantastic speed and touch, whilst playing the traditional serve and volley game.
Then we had the old guard and getting older guard taking their place as third pair. Bohdan Gabryelow, who has joined the club again after spending a few years supporting his mega talented kids with Natiinal championship duties with athletics, has come back and is back to his best. Usually known for his singles game and superb top of the bounce forehand. Bohdan got the short straw playing with Lawrence Lowe (me), poor guy had to listen to a constant coaching session on court as usual lol, but we actually did the 1st team proud.
Meopham were so close to win against a top of the table team, but ended up with a very pleasing draw
Well done to everyone who really showcased some superb tennis against a very fair, friendly and sociable team.

Our last Saturday session before Summer Break!!! Well not quite, as we have the very popular Summer Camps.
We are so proud of the fantastic signing up of so many of our club players. We love our group coaching sessions and believe we have a fun professional team to support our sessions. Here we have our 9.00am mini reds group, that we split up into a maximum group of six with a specific LTA qualified coach. We believe we have potential from these young tennis players to become future champs # # As you can see they are jumping for joy!!! lol

What a fantastic Cardio Tennis session this morning! 🙌 The courts were buzzing with energy, the numbers were incredible, and the atmosphere was brilliant from start to finish.

A huge thank you to our Head Coach, Lawrie Lowe, who continues to keep every session fresh, fun and challenging. 💪 One thing’s for sure… no two weeks are ever the same! Expect new drills, new games, plenty of laughs and a great workout every single time you step on court.

Whether you’re looking to improve your fitness, meet new people or simply enjoy an hour of tennis-based fun, Cardio Tennis is for everyone – no matter your ability.
