That is a very good question!
And one that, until recently, I’ve found very hard to answer.
It dawned on me that I hadn’t really connected with who I am now when I was recently asked what I do for a living. My immediate answer was, “I’m an osteopath.”
Not a lie—but I’m so much more than that nowadays.
What I should have said was, “I own a CrossFit gym.”
Why on earth didn’t I?
Possibly because it was always a dream, and I haven’t quite checked in with the fact that it’s now a reality. Or perhaps I’m in denial—mainly because the dream has turned out to have some rather nightmarish qualities too 😅
I spend most days wondering when the adult is going to arrive and take my dream away because I’m not worthy of it—and some days praying they’ll come and save me from it 😬
But the reality is: I OWN A CROSSFIT GYM.
And it’s wonderful. It’s also terrifying.
It makes me incredibly happy most days and extremely sad on others. The last year has been turbulent, but would I be without it?
Nope!
Blood, sweat (lots of it) and tears (I’m a crier) have gone into creating Claydon CrossFit. I’m sure there will be plenty more over the next few years, but it is my proudest achievement to date.
It has become an incredible place, full of incredible people sharing incredible experiences.
And I did that.
Yes, I’ve had a huge amount of help along the way—financially, emotionally and physically—and I’ll be forever grateful to EVERYONE who has helped me create this special place.
So, I want to use this account not just to talk about osteopathy and share the odd workout, but to celebrate CCF.
I want to share the brilliant parts and the difficult realities of running a gym—not to complain, but to educate. Most of all, I want to honour my gym and the people who make it what it is.
