GOOD MORNING FROM BOOTS ON HQ!!

I’ve been up since 3am, contemplating the meaning of life and what’s beyond the universe….in other words….insomnia!

There’s lots going on for our Boots On Crew at the moment, both with Boots On itself and personally.

As you all know our son Jacob has complex needs and ASD, he’s the brains behind Boots On and came up with the name (albeit accidentally!) he begins high school in September, and is headed firmly into puberty. He is finding life very challenging right now which in turn makes it challenging for us and for his sisters. We are navigating it the best we can with very little support from outside agencies.

My main man Donovan aka Geek is also having a tough time right now, he’s due back at Oakhill for surgery this month which has come a little unexpectedly as we thought we could schedule it for autumn when the flies went back to sleep for the winter. He has a recurrence of sarcoids which in themselves are not causing him pain or illness and they are really well managed, however they have multiplied in number and therefore we can’t wait any longer. As a result my time will be taken up over the next 12-16 weeks with his recovery which will be very challenging and time consuming, add to that the expense as recurrence is not coverable on insurance, this takes money away from Boots On.

At the moment Boots On is entirely self funded as we have not secured funding as we had hoped to, we have a big dream and we want to do great things and we will continue to work hard behind the scenes and share updates with you. As for our hands on work, watch this space…

Please keep interacting, likes, comments and shares are how we get noticed and build our following and in turn the good work we are wanting to do.

If anyone has ideas on how we can generate funds for our CIC using the power of social media, online adventures and any other ways please please reach out!!

Lots of love

We’re a walking Barlow Trailers Ltd advert! And we’re proud of it!

You want a trailer? You want friendly and helpful? You want lads who say hi to your kids and are super understanding when one of them has additional needs and insists on chaos? BARLOWS!

Nothing is ever too much trouble, and you get 100% what you pay for, and more. best of all….kids won’t get sunstroke now!

And if you have a “I need a trailer” “ok, when for?” “Ummmm now??” Situation, they’ll bend over backwards to figure it out!

Thanks guys for many years of trailering and many more to come.

This is the best blend we’ve found and would never buy from anywhere else. We feed it to our whole herd because you can never have too much goodness! We have one cob with very mild beginnings of CPL, so he has been having it a while….but the others felt left out!

☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️☀️
We’re spending our days making sure our herd are healthy and comfortable whilst we have this stint of HOT weather 🥵

Although our fields have plenty of shade, the herd are brought into the barn when the heat is at peak so they have plenty of shade with a nice cool breeze.

Given a majority of our ponies are black- they absorb the heat so can easily over heat, the other 2 are pink skinned so are prone to sunburn- the barn is the place to be!

They have access to plenty of fresh water, salt licks and nice sloppy feeds to make sure they stay hydrated.

They are showered with the hose to keep cool too 🚿

They’ll all be turned out a bit later when the temperatures are cooler with plenty of horse safe suncream on their muzzles 🩷

BEAR!!! what a success story! ‘We’ bought Bear at the end of January, and as the top picture shows he wasn’t looking too good. He’d not been trimmed by a farrier for almost 5 months, he was underweight, in poor condition, matted and mud caked and an anxious stressed boy, often kicking out and biting to tell us he was struggling.

Four months later and lots of patience, kindness, and time, accompanied by good nutrition, a herd to belong to, experience, knowledge and know how….well, the picture speaks for itself!!

You can’t argue with the change! It’s there and the camera never lies….Bear, you are a superstar!

BOOTS ON DOES BIRTHDAYS!!!

Sneaky peak of what we are hoping to offer when the red tape stuff is all done!

This was a unicorn party for our very own BOOTS ON BABY SHILOH….who turns 4 this week! No so ‘baby’ and growing up way too fast!

We had music, arts and crafts, pony (I mean unicorn) grooming, and unicorn rides.

Here’s some pics of the fun! We were especially proud of our SEND children who were amazing and tried touching and brushing the ponies, as always Jacob was on form with his “YEE HAW COWBOY”

NB- this was not an official boots on event, it was a family party. We are testing things out on our family and friends to iron out any issues and tweak things to get it just right.

When you’re going through pics and some of them make you realise how lucky you are….our little herd are just so wonderful and although things are taking longer than expected, we can’t wait to share them with you.

Building is happening, fieldwork is ongoing and the most exciting part…roofing is underway.

Although the ponies have a really good large area of barn with good roof, we have some gaps in other areas where we took loose panels off for safety, so these are being replaced over the summer.

We keep our ponies in over winter, to rest our fields, and for their wellbeing too. They still graze when weather is good, but they’re in every night and in the rain, wind and snow…for the fields as much as for them! We are lucky to have lots of natural shelter in the fields, and we put some brilliant mesh up last year to keep the wind out of the barn. Nice deep bed, ad lib forage….i may move in myself this year!! These ponies don’t know they’re born and it shows in their behaviour and temperaments.

Believe it or not…. Every single one of our ponies have their own designated Rainbow Trugs.
But as our Baby Boots On Shiloh would say- sharing is caring 🤣🥰

Happy hump day everyone! ❤️

Today we had a visit from Grandad Boots On!
He’s our go to for DIY if we can’t figure it out ourselves 😂
He made us a wonderful new feed/storage station and spent time teaching the kids to make benches for our activity area! Every day is a learning day especially here at Boots On.
Outdoor adventures, life skills with the bonus company of our beautiful 4 legged friends 🐴

With some terrible weather heading our way we decided a sleep over in the barn was the best option for the herd and they were very quick to take advantage of a fresh bed of shavings and dust as proven by our biggest boy- Scout and our youngest boy- Apollo ⛈️

With our ranch being in the middle of beautiful woodland, we’re always lucky to see the wildlife. Mainly deer and field mice and we have resident ducks currently! 🦆 But today’s visitor was little Gary the snail, who Lainey safely relocated 🐌
