Weekend Youth Rugby Round-Up

Another busy weekend for our youth section, with plenty of rugby, great performances and lots of positives to take forward

U18 Boys
A tough afternoon away to Bishopton saw the boys go down 46–5, but the scoreline doesn’t tell the full story. With 19 players battling against a bigger side, there was a huge improvement from their previous outing and plenty of positives to build on. Two of our new boys also made their debuts!

U16 Boys
Stewartry 29–38 Greenock
A fantastic away win with six tries shared around the team.

⭐ Man of the Match: Roman

U16 Girls
Cambuslang 30–17 Greenock
An unlucky result that didn’t reflect the effort from the girls. Tries from Lucy, Hannah & Brodie, with Jess adding the conversion.

⭐ Player of the Match: Rosie

U14 Girls
Another wonderful performance from the girls, showing great teamwork and togetherness. They continue to grow and develop with every game.

U14 Boys
Greenock 45–45 Ardrossan
A brilliant, fiercely competitive game away from home, with our boys joining up with Wigtownshire to get a full 15-a-side game. A 45–45 draw was a fitting result after a fantastic contest. Despite a few knocks, the boys gave everything.

U13 Boys
Greenock 17–52 Whitecraigs
Another scoreline that didn’t reflect the progress on show. The boys have been working hard in training and it was great to see that work coming through on the pitch.

🏉 MINI RUGBY IS BACK! 🏉

What a fantastic day at the Fort! ❤️💛🖤

Today our GWRFC Micro & Minis hosted Bishopton and Ardrossan for their first games of the season and what a way to kick things off! 🙌

The weather was on our side ☀️, the rugby was brilliant, and there were smiles all round! 😁🏉

A massive WELL DONE to our P4 team, who played their very first ever contact rugby game today! 💪 What a milestone! The coaches couldn’t be prouder of how hard you worked, how you listened, and how you put everything you’ve been practising into action on the pitch. 👏👏

A huge success all round, with plenty of fun, teamwork and great rugby on show. We can’t wait to see all our young players grow, develop and enjoy their rugby journey throughout the season. 🥰

And, of course, a big thank you to all the coaches, volunteers, parents, supporters and visiting teams who helped make today such a brilliant day for our minis! 🫶
