Greenock udderly outplayed.

As was expected, the 1st XI found Uddingston too tough to overcome on Saturday, losing by 9 wickets. They batted first and despite five of their batsmen reaching double figures, none of them was able to make the big score that was needed and crucially both Aussies were dismissed cheaply. Ross Lyons was again the tormentor-in-chief, taking 5 for 27 as the team were bowled out for 127. Uddingston lost an early wicket in reply but thereafter were untroubled as they reached their target before the halfway point of their allocated overs.

The Glenpark XI lost again, this time by 119 runs to Meikleriggs. The Paisley team batted first, scoring 181 for the loss of 6 wickets with Moiz Mansoor taking 3 for 12 from his 8 overs. Glenpark could only reach 62 in their reply with Mohammed Zeeshan scoring more than half of these runs in his innings of 34.

After a series of home fixtures, the 1st XI are off on their travels on Saturday when they play second-placed Uddingston at Bothwell Policies. This will be a tough fixture for the team who have historically struggled at Uddingston and they will also remember their meeting in May at Glenpark which resulted in a 10 wicket victory for their visitors. The side will need to improve on recent performances if they are to get any return on Saturday.

The Glenpark XI are at home this Saturday to play Meikleriggs, the second eleven of Ferguslie. Peter Pan Robertson will captain the side this week and will need the support of all his players if he is to achieve a winning return to captaincy. Good luck, Robbo! The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

On Sunday, the Hillend XI are away to Drumpellier at Langloan in the Sunday League, fresh from a 40 run defeat in the Midweek League at the hands of Clydesdale Bees. On the same day the Senior XI entertain GHK at Glenpark.

The 1st XI are again at home on Saturday when they welcome fellow relegation strugglers East Kilbride for what will be a vital match for both teams. With five teams seemingly locked into the struggle to avoid relegation, every game takes on significance but none more so than when it is against another team that is also involved at the foot of the table. When the teams met earlier in the season at East Kilbride, the 1st XI were emphatic winners by 9 wickets and will be looking for a repeat of that performance on Saturday. The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

The Glenpark XI are at Torrance House on Saturday to play Woodhall EK. They will be hoping to be able to field a stronger side than has taken the field on previous Saturdays as they look once more for their first league win of the season.

On Sunday, the Hillend XI are away to Ayr 3rd XI at New Cambusdoon in the Sunday League, looking for more success after a strong win over Kilmarnock on Tuesday in the Midweek League.

The 1st XI suffered a very heavy defeat on Saturday, losing to Dumfries by 185 runs. The visitors batted first, having been inserted, and started well but when their score stood at 134 for 5, there were hopes that they could be bowled out for a gettable total. However Dumfries had other ideas and they took their total to an impressive 253 for 7. The 1st XI's reply just never got going and they were bowled out for just 68 in less than 20 overs. Results elsewhere mean that they drop down to 8th place in the table and next week's game against East Kilbride takes on some real significance. A full report will follow.

The Glenpark XI travelled to Dumfries to take on Nunholm with another patched up side. When Nunholm scored 341 for 3 in their 40 overs, a real thrashing looked to be on the cards but to their credit the Glenpark batters made a real fist of it before being bowled out for 181.

Members will be saddened to hear of the untimely death of Alan MacLean early on Friday at the age of 66. Lucky Al, as he was known to everyone, was a long-standing member of the Club, joining the hockey section where he became a fearless goalkeeper. He was a great supporter of all the Club's activities stretching back over 40 years and will be sadly missed. Our sincere condolences go to his family and all who knew him.

After last Saturday's wash-out, the 1st XI are at home again this Saturday, this time to face Dumfries who currently sit in 3rd place in the league table. Once again, the team will go on to the field with a number of regulars missing for various reasons. Stand-in skipper Toby Matthews faces a tough afternoon against a team which will be keen for a win to enhance their pormotion prospects. The game starts at the usual time of 12 noon.

The Glenpark XI are away to Nunholm in Dumfries on Saturday, having to cope yet again with the prospect of fielding a seriously weakened eleven.

There are no games, either at Glenpark or away, on Sunday.

The death has been announced at the age of 92 of Bill Dow, professional at the Club in the years from 1961 to 1963. He took 178 wickets at an average of 13.73 with a best of 7 for 31 and scored 898 runs at 17.96 with a highest score of 103* against Golfhill.

According to Duncan Drummond, his powerful physique enabled him to bowl long spells, bowling medium paced off-breaks, although he had made his name at Clydesdale and Ess*x as a fast medium bowler and was capped 17 times for Scotland. He was also a powerful batsman, who liked to score quickly and his fielding was a joy to watch. He will be sadly missed, particularly in the west of Scotland.
